Another noob from SE Michigan.

@Daneen1128, you were just chatting with dlc95 who is like the godfather of the PC and IMHO probably one of the better experts on this forum when it comes to the PC.

Each of these polishers have their own personality. Given your two cars are fairly new, you might not need the beastly power of the Flex and may never need the Flex if you stay on top of the maintenance with proper washing and an annual light polishing (as an example). I haven't used the BOSS but I now have a Rupes and compared to the Flex, I don't feel all beat up after working the machine for hours. It's been a really long time since I've used the PC (yep - that is what I started with) so I can't really recall how it felt vs the Flex.

Welcome from yet another Michigander!

No Z-car here, but the guy who sits next to me at work has a dark blue 370Z!

dlc95 and Cabrio.
I'm a sissy. I'm hoping I don't scratch my car more than improve it. I'm thinking I should buy Mike's books/cd's and try to gain a little confidence.

Those are all great resources and filled with tons of valuable information. I'm sure you will surprise yourself from the get go with the results that you will achieve. The DA polisher is a safe tool. The journey after that is filled with refining your technique, exploring new products and expanding your detailing to other parts of the car beyond just the paint. It's all good!

You should be a motivational speaker!
Makes me want to go get started.

Ha! Thanks for the kind compliment. The fact that detailing is in your DNA and you are taking all the right approaches, you are going to wield that DA like a magic wand and presto - shiny, glimmering paint will appear before your eyes. Your husband is going to have to pull out sunglasses in order to look at his Z and wonder why you didn't this earlier.

Cabrio is right! No worries with the d/a machine. It's pretty difficult to harm the paint with it.

I absolutely recommend picking up Mike Phillips' books. I have the one he wrote for the Rupes system. I haven't procured the others, but I will in time.
