another opti-coat thread. why does my roof bead different?

I'm a noob to all this stuff but have done a bit of reading, would iron x work for the OP? Also, can you show us some shots of the clear coat failing, maybe it's "safe" to compound it and you think it's worse than it is....

I'll take pictures tomorrow. It is very visible in the morning light.

About as good a picture as I can get. It can only be seen when the sun hits it from a certain angle. I cannot be seen in the shade which I find odd. So I am guessing it is very early still. But like I said, ever since I started touching to to prepare for opti-coat it seems like it is getting worse fast. The changes in the last two months are much greater than it was a whole year ago when I first noticed it.

Also those spots that go from the bottom right to the top left, looks like a cat walked on my car.

You need to just live with this or repaint. It's just one panel. Now I see why you don't want to polish. Maybe you can top it with wax to give you some beading. Water spots on the glass?

I honestly do not care at all if it does not bead. I just wanted to OC on there to protect the paint as much as I can in an attempt to slow down the failure.

Is there a chance that maybe the OC is fine, but its just the contaniments that are preventing it from beading? Or should I just apply wolfgang sealant and hope for the best?

Hah yeah. It was really hot out two days ago when I washed it. I was racing around the car scrubbing windows and I forgot to do the back in my rush to rinse before the soap dried. Figured Id hit it next time.

If paint is dirty enough, it won't bead because the particles of dirt break the edge of any beads that try to form. After it's washed, the beads return. I'm guessing you have enough surface roughness to prevent beading as if it was dirty.

That makes sense. As long as opti-coat is still there, I am happy.

I was worried that maybe it had washed off(reason I made the thread). I've seen how unwaxed cars react to being washed. The water tends to sit flat on the paint and it is very hard to dry. My roof dries as easily as my hood now that I think of it.
