Another Premium Interior Detail (Kia Sorento this time)

It looks like you did a dang good job to me. Car is looking very nice after your work!

As bad as those seats were, I wouldn't feel bad at all about the results you got. That said, that type of fabric seems to really love oily stains. I've found that most stains come out but you're left with dark spots a lot of times on this fabric.

There's two things I've found to improve on cleaning these types of seats.

The biggest problem detailers face is wicking, and this fabric is the worst.

After you've cleaned the seats, and the fabric is almost dry ( I can't believe I'm letting this cat out of the bag, but some guys already know) spray some spotter, like folex on a Meg's MF pad and use your DA polisher to go over the seats. It's the same basic concept of encapsulation cleaning. It will remove any remaining residue. I use a vacaway brand spotter that is superior to folex. PM me if you are interested.

For the dark stains areas that just seem impossible to budge, you need a very strong cleaner that will attack oil. Dlimonene cleaners work, but tend to leave residue so I don't use them for this task anymore.

I use a vacaway brand crystal encapsulation cleaner that eats those stains for lunch. Again, pm me if you are interested.

A very hot water extractor helps a lot. As close to 200 degrees as possible. Sometimes I will even steam the seats before extracting. You have to be careful though, because steam can bake some stains in, making them permanent.

You may know a lot of this already. Sorry if I dumbed it down too much. Understanding the PH scale and how certain stains relate to the scale and how certain chemicals relate is also very important.

You probably already know, but for example, a high alkaline cleaner like meg's apc+ or most apc's for that matter well tend to set some coffee stains, making them impossible to remove.

My wife has a 2012 Sorento with those very seats.. On top of the requisite 2yo doing her thing, I have a 5yo that works hard at enhancing the cleaning challenge. Every day is like a new test of cleaning skill set: "Hey Dad, see if you can get THIS one out.. lolololol"

You pm box is unavailable but if you get a moment to spare, help a dad out and and PM me with the aforementioned cleaners.. would greatly appreciate it.. :help:

Yuck!

I get the two year old in the back but what's up with the front seat? And what are the dark oily stains from? Every bottle that's been chucked across my backseat has only dribble a little white milk, not spewed oil everywhere! Though that looks like it could be ice cream, fast-food grease, and stuff like that. Babies can have their bottles but food doesn't go in my car! LOL.

I'm pretty anal about that. I generally just drink water ANYWAY but if I do get coffee or tea or something, I rarely drink it in the car. I hate stains and I hate removing them even more.

Thanks for the input Jeremy, and I just PM'ed you. This is only the second interior I have done for anyone, and first with cloth seats so it has been a learning curve with stuff and I am always open for input anyone has. I am pretty new to this as I only really decided to go into business and start doing this a few months ago. I think between this vehicle and the f-150 I did a few weeks ago I am seeing pretty good results with my interior work.

Looks like you did a great job to me. Those seats looked nasty.

You just blew my mind. Seriously. I see a wealth of information from you just waiting to be had. Is there any way you could do a write up on interior cleaning? I know I for one would greatly appreciate it. :dblthumb2:

By the way Kevin, nice job on the interior of that Sorento! That thing looked like a rolling biohazard containment unit before, now it can be presented as an SUV. :props:

Wow good job, I applaud you for tackling that job. And it looks great consider what you started with.

I'm by no means a guru. I've just come across so many stains and gunk that I've finally started to work things out.

I have to give a HUGE shout out to member,

A-train for setting me in the right direction. He turned me on to some excellent carpet cleaning products that changed the way I detail.

I would like to do a write up soon, on upholstery and carpet cleaning. I've stolen a few ideas and put them together with my own wacky ideas and have come up with a pretty decent way to use microfiber pads for encapsulation cleaning.

In many cases this technique can be used alone or as a follow up after carpet and fabric is nearly dry after extracting, to remove any remaining residue or wicking stains.

As a fan of your work and your brand Jeremy, I would also appreciate a write up on interior cleaning!

If you can include your "vlm encapsulation cleaning" process that'd be hella dope, bc I've been meaning to shoot you a pm about it

This is incredible work; I'm always amazed with ppl who can turn interiors like that around.

How exactly did you use the Bissel to clean the seats? Did you put any of the diluted product in its tank or did you only use hot water and treat the stains with your dilited mixtures seperately? Silly questions I know but I have a client wanting me to clean her seats and im trying to figure out the best way to attack it.

I just used only hot water to extract the CG Fabric Clean that I sprayed on the seats and scrubbed with a brush.

Stay tuned. I'm going to put together a write up with pics and post it, hopefully within the next few weeks. I have been so busy this year, it's ridiculous. It's finally starting to slow down a little. I'm staying a little over a week booked, as opposed to 2-3, so it feels like I have a little room to breath and relax. As soon as I come across the perfect vehicle for a write up I'm gonna do it.

I've been trying to incorporate encapsulation products and methods into my detailing for a few months now, and it's working well. I know that A-train is also working at developing some new methods.

Also can't wait to read it!
