Feels kinda funny to refer to myself as a "newbie" considering I've been driving for 45 years. I ordered some pads and Menzerna polish and glaze a couple of years ago to use with my 7424 on an old black '96 Chevy Truck. I now have a 2010 Colorado that is also black and will do my own detailing. After watching the Wolfgang detailing video on the AG site, I put a flashlight on my 1 week old truck and was amazed at the fine line scratches that apparently came from the dealer's washing and drying. I ordered some Wolfgang Swirl Remover and Glaze and am about to start on the scratches. Which Lake Country pad should I use with the Swirl remover? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Usually you want to use the least aggressive product to get the job done, this applies to both your chemicals and your buffing pads.

I always teach people to do a Test Spot, that's where you test your products, pads, tools and technique to one small area and make sure you can make just one small area look GREAT before going over the entire car or truck, especially if it's black or a dark color.

So taking the above into consideration try out a white foam polishing pad on the 5.0 to 6.0 Speed setting to a section about 16" to 20" squarish or so and then inspect your results to see if that combination is removing the defects.

We'll have a brand new how-to video that shows how to do a Test Spot launching hopefully this Sunday to correlate with the new commercial airing at 1:30pm on Two Guys Garage on this Sunday afternoon.

We go over the process in detail and actually use the Wolfgang products, the Porter Cable and the CCS Pads on a black, swirled-out car.

It will be on this page

Also, normally you introduce yourself in a "Introduction" forum group but post questions to a group that's actually for questions of the Introduction forum group become a "Detailing 101" forum group.

I wrote a little article about this here,

Post your intro thread here but post topical question in the related forum group

It's not a huge deal or anything but having some kind of order helps to keep the forum somewhat organized.

:)

Where in TN do you live? I live in Powell, which is a suburb of Knoxville.

Welcome to the club! Honestly I was never a fan of the S-10 Colorado truck but that V8 option sure did look tempting. I bet it's a beast.

GO GATORS!!! sorry I have a bad habit of doing that.

I've had an S-10 and got lucky with a good one. The Colorado/Canyon is GM's attempt to get into the mid size truck market. Had an '05 Red extended cab that was also a good one. Starting in '09, they offered the 5.3L 300 hp V8 in the Colorado & Canyon. Yes, it will scoot and mess up the minds of some big ole boys.

haha! nice. I had a buddy who got a hold of a built up S10. older early 90's one. He ha d aracing engine, slicks, the works on it. He talked and talked about it then I finally got to see it first hand. WOW! he turned the ignition and BLAPBLAPBWAPBLAPBWAP! It was just poppin and snarlin. He took for a short run down an empty 2 lane road and I thought I was going to have to change my pants.
