I have ants in my house. They are out of control!!
Red ants at that.
If you leave a crumb on the floor, they come in by the hundreds in a straight line to it. Mostly in the kitchen, of course. I had to throw away a few bags of chips that were folded over and clamped down with a clothes pin. They even chewed a hole through an unopened bag of chips. I unscrewed the peanut butter jar lid, and they were having a party in there!!! They even dug tunnels. It looked like an ant farm. Cool and un-cool at the same time.

They are killing me.... I get bit all the time, as well as the rest of the family. Lately I seen a few in the carpet in the living room and my laundry room. When the kids put clothes in the laundry room, they like to throw the clothes on the floor. When I pick them up, ants are all through whatever is on the floor.

SOoooooo.....

what can I buy to stop them from coming in??? I put a few ant traps down...HAHAHA, what a joke. I need something for in the house, around the house, and my yard. I want them all dead.
I need something good and lasts. I have kids, so whatever it is, has to be safe.
My legs look like I have some sort of disease from the bites....lol

Help me out!!!

Chris...Terro makes a good product and also Ambro....but you have to be careful...poison is poison..and you have kids and animals....Boric acid works also....but you may want to spray under the house....and around the perimeter first...and keeps the kids away and also the pets....

there is also a product from Ortho I believe called traizide...it hooks on the hose and has a sprayer...it works good ..I used it to spray for tick in the yard and seen the ants do the death dance when they entered the sprayed areas....

if they are fire ants...you need to find the nest and treat that....Ambro has a good treatment for that...also check Topia...search ants..was a very good thread on it and stuff that showed results....

Hope this helps

I bet some citrus degreaser would work. Or simple green. you can kill and clean at the same time :p no, really try either of the two, i bet it will work, and they are non toxic.

you can go good 'ol texas style on them and fill the ant hill up with gasoline and light 'er up :)

When you have that many of them, you might wanna consider calling your local pest control...

you want something in the house that they will bring to the nest and feed the queen and kill it....the boric acid was famed to work good...you mixed a little grape jelly with the boric acid..its a powder...its sold as roach killer....or in a drug store as boric acid...make bait stations that are not open to kids and animals....let them feed on it....

then you spray the outside with a chemical that will barrier the house....but best to find the source of them....and then spray that area....talk to scottlee he had ants and had sprayed and none have come back....

I am no sure what kind of killer ants you have in Texas, but I have to agree with AL. You have to kill the queen. I had a problem a few years ago and I got the traps, they did the trick. It was not as large of a problem you are dealing with, but best of luck to you! Al is right be very careful!!! POISON IS POISON Do not put anything down were the pets or kids can get it. Really watch those ant traps they have something in them the dogs love.

If you use a spray indoors make sure it is water based so it does not stain carpet or walls.
I had the same problem here in Phoenix and used ortho indoor/outdoor spray.
coat the outside via weed sprayer twice within a week if it does not rain. Then do a monthly spray from there on out until winter. Inside spray complete perimeter of house and under frig. and especially under and sides of stove. Again use water based so it evaperorates and only leaves poison and kids and pets will be fine.(keep pets and kids away until its dry, 1/2 hour)
Parent of three kids and to many pets to list......Gary

I AGREE!!! We went through it here and they got them under control (as in GONE) in less than one month. All the rain has driven them in so get the interior & exterior treated by a pro agency. We now continue treatment every 60 days and they come out at no charge in between if we get an invasion by any varmint. That has happened once in 18 months due to rain.

I got rid of them on my own. To be honest it took awhile but it worked. First I got a 2 gal. plastic hudson type sprayer. Then got a poison concentrate (used Diazinon) and kept mixing my own 2 gal. Next track them from your house back to their ant hill. Kill them all along the trail and at the source. If their trail goes over a neighbors fence, etc just spray the trail. If they can't go out and get food back they will leave. It's almost like you have to declare war on them.

Chris....JoeP and myself own a few ant eaters....want to rent a few....we have a new buisness.....Ant Busters....

Chris, you have to get some bait around the perimeter of your house so the ants will pick it up and take it to the queen. You'll never get rid of them without killing the queen. Also, if you have a do it yourself pest control center that sells pesticides, you can get a product called Demon WP, which is the same stuff Sears uses (that's what I've been told), and spray the inside of your house around the baseboards, cracks, crevices, etc.. Then spray the outside of your house two feet up and two feet out to set up a barrier. Make sure you get the bait to kill the queen though, otherwise you'll waste your money on the poison! If you don't want to do it yourself, call a pest control service;)

PS. Don't get crumbs in your bed, you'll regret it!

4 steps to remove ants :

1. Use foam spray around piping and plumbing to seal incoming area's.

2. Use ant bait on lawn and around the perimeter of home to stop visitors.

3. Use a fogger in the attic , allow one or two based upon attics size. Renting a blowing unit and using boric acid works also.

4. Terro for the inside ... the eat it and take it back to queen to kill the entire squad.
