In Florida there are lots and ants and I have always found that the bait type products work the best. You have to killed the queen or there just keep coming back.

In our new home, we have "tubes in the wall" where a tech comes every month and fills it with chemicals that keeps the pests away.
But in our old house, we had a really bad ant problem, especially in the summer time. I bought this sand stuff (dont know what its called it didnt kill ants, it just kept them away) around the exterior of the home, and then along some window sill and filled the little holes in the corners where the ants would come out of.
That help a lot but everyonce in a while we would still get em.
