My husband asked me to help a friend out and show him the "polishing ropes".

Only issue I have is he just bought a PC and I've never used one. I'm a Flex and Rupes girl.
Anything I should know before I hand out technique, advice, etc to this guy?

Thx.

Hi Monica,

Mike Phillips has a great video on using the PC7424xp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et6Egpw-f-s
The only thing you'll have to deal with coming from Flex and Rupes is knowing to use 15lbs of downward pressure while polish and IIRC the throw is 4mm.

But it's a very easy tool to work... don't use the side handle as Mike demonstrates, even pressure has to come from the top.. plus it could be easy to have the polisher turn on an angle and the handle goes into the paint. And always use the spacer washers between the backing plate and drive.

You should do fine... Good luck teaching your friend!

With a PC I kept it simple. Megs microfiber cutting disks if I needed to compound. And Lake Country thin pro white polishing foam pads with m205 for polishing. 5"

Maybe let him use your rupes so he'll go out and buy one. His back and his shoulders will thank you later.

I would also suggest Meguires microfiber pads and D300 to remove scratches and swirls with the PC.
