Any Alfa fans here?


I met a local guy at our Cars & Coffee who owns a back 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider that could use a little TLC to bring her back to life....

These pictures don't show the swirls but I've seen the paint on this car in full sun and it's a great extreme makeover candidate....

I've invited the owner to attend this weekend's Cars & Coffee so I can get a better look at his Alfa and also to the upcoming August 14th Extreme Makeover on Thursday night.


When I was in high school, my auto shop teacher and the art teacher were both into Alfa Romeo's and as such I've spend a few hours doing grunt work on a couple of 1960's Giuliettas.

Interestingly enough, the Rupes Duetto is named after the Alfa Romeo Duetto. I don't know if the inspiration is the classic Duettos or the upcoming introduction of the newest version for 2015?

I had the pleasure of owning a Rosso red one built in 1980 back in the late 80's in England.

When it ran well it was brilliant but....

Alfa built in more gremlins than my army pay could pay for so alas it had to go!

I fancy another one but summer in Scotland is about 2 weeks so it would have to live in a garage for 50 weeks and make sure it stays warm and dry!

Any chance you can put up before and after photos so I can cry silently inside.

Make sure to get one that runs unhindered in those two weeks. :)
I'd recommend a nice 66 or 67 Mustang convertible, you can pick one for cheaps particularly if you opt for a six cylinder and export it to the UK if you can.:cool:

We have not worked on this car yet so I can't post the before and after pictures yet.

That said, the owner e-mailed me back to let me know he'll be here for this weekend's 5 Cars & Coffee here at AG and I'll be sure to do my best to get the sun shots to document it's current condition and we'll go from there.

I like to have a good mix of cars here at Autogeek for all our projects and to date, at least in the last 5 years since I've been here we have not had any Alfa Romeos.

So I'll meet with the owner this weekend and we'll go from there. He has the link to this thread too so he's up to speed with his car as a potential project car for our Thursday night sessions.

Is there some kind of paint chip cover on the front or photoshopping the number plate off the car?

I wish I could come but Edinburgh is a little to far!
 
I'm a fan of a lot of cars, older Alfas are very cool! Here's some from the local cars and coffee from my trip back to where I grew up, The D!

I've always loved Alpha's. From Sypder's like the one Mike's looking at, to the current models I saw running all over Europe when I lived there. They all have a unique design that I find attractive, and everyone seems to have a musical exhaust note.

The only thing that bother's me about them is their reputation for being terribly unreliable.
