Any Amazon Prime members?

Very interesting. We use and love amazon prime. Would not hesitate to pay another $40 a year for this service.

Did you guys know you can share amazon prime with up to 4 family members? Makes it a smoking deal if everyone pitches in for the yearly cost

I get Prime for $40 a year (college student) and already I wouldn't pay $80 as I wouldn't spend that much on shipping if I didn't have Prime.

I buy a lot of Chemical Guys products on amazon with my prime membership. Id say 95% of there stuff on amazon is prime applicable which is great!

I have it for free right now for being a student. I don't think I will pay for it after that.

But like a poster above I also use it to buy CG products.

They can get away with a 50pct increase.....it's still a bargain to me....

I agree with everyone about it still being a bargain. I buy enough from Amazon with enough frequency that I feel the 2 day shipping is worth it, even if Prime does go up by 50%. I know I don't need the 2 day shipping, but it sure has been nice these past few years.

Money well spent, IMO.

I love Prime as well. My wife uses it for the books, we watch a bunch of movies, and still save a ton on shipping.

The amount we save on sales tax, subscription discounts, and shipping more than makes up for any rate hike.

Unfortunately, Indiana lost in the sales tax war. They started collecting in January.

Amazon reached an agreement with the state in 2012 to start collecting sales tax on Indiana purchases this year. We have several distribution centers in the state and it was only a matter of time before they forced them to do it anyways.

Charging sales tax immediately ends my relationship with any online merchant.

Sales taxes don't change anything for me. It is an inconvenience, but you have to pay them in stores so it puts them on an equal footing with the brick and mortar locations.

Sales tax here is 11%, I'll take any break I can get.

$80 is my cutoff for it. Most things I can get free shipping, just not 2 day shipping without it. I won't pay much more.

For the me, the biggest attraction to Amazon was no tax then Prime membership. In Cali, that's changed, I doubt I will keep my Prime membership with the increase. I use to shop quite a bit on Amazon but not anymore...

I wonder how this would effect students accounts. And increase by 50%, that means that it would only be $100 for prime and $60 for student accounts. Still a fair price considering how affordable and fast the shipping is.
