I have been reading about the new Clayblocks. Smartwax and Elastrofoam has them. I'm new the claying and I thought these might be a little safer to protect from marring. Has anybody used these? If so are they as effective as clay? My car is brand new so it doesn't need anything aggressive.

Yes, it is better than clay. When you are using a brand new fresh clay block, rub it against the window a couple of passes to "break it in" then just use plenty of lube, it is faster than clay, no need to remold a fresh surface, and if you drop it, just wash with water unlike clay where you got to throw the whole clay away

I have used Chemical Guys Clay Block. Works ok on paint that is not too dirty. Noticed that I had to use regular clay on the bottom of the car to really get it clean.

The Smartwax clayblock is the same as the Chemical Guys', They are the parent company of Chemical Guys. Thanks for the info.

LOL...if they say so.
What's so funny? I don't understand your "LOL" post. You act as if what I said about Smartwax being the parent company of Chemical Guys is not correct? Do alittle research and I believe you'll find out that I am right. LOL!

I think you need to peel the onion a little further.

Is Smartwax the parent of CG or the other way around? They are really the same co., and they are both just boutique marketing arms of another co.

That is my point. LOL!

My $.02

CG is the parent of Smart Wax. Smart wax was made as an enthusiast line where CG caters to professionals; this is how they explained it to me. I have read a couple times on other forums that Warner owns CG but I do not have any thing proving that.

Either way the CG line is much more economical and IMO they are usually the same products just different packaging.

I have never looked into using a clay alternative and there is a certain mental satisfaction to seeing visible contamination being removed when using clay.

Assuming you do not drop your clay is do you get more uses out of the clay alternatives vs say a meguiars clay kit (200gm)?
