Any C6 owners out there????

holy crap......I wonder if anyone's been hit by one yet. That would suck head on.......well, in that case unfortunately it would be "head off":p

I thought they already recalled it, I talked to a C6 Z06 owner who said his came off on I-95 and luckily didn't hit anything or cause an accident (I could imagine the lawsuit GM would have if something were to happen...ie: roof come flying through somebodies windshield etc). Though it's not really the roof, just the body panel on top correct, at least thats what happened to the Z owner. I know some people might be reading what were saying and thinking the whole roof comes off lol.
 
it took them 10 years to recall and actually fix the c5 column lock problem. GM is not in a hurry

True, I remember everyone having that issue, happened to a friend a few years ago with his C5 ZO6. But can you imagine the liability GM is opening itself to if a roof panel comes off and goes through somebodies windshield impaling/killing them, GM would be screwed even more then they are now.


Looks like they did issue a recall, sorta

May 26, 2006, -- NHTSA said General Motors Corp. is recalling 30,793 Chevrolet Corvette cars from the 2005-2006 model years as the adhesive between the roof panel and the frame may separate and the roofs could fly off.

GM was forced into a safety recall from the NHSTA in May 2006 after being requested to issue a customer satisfaction bulletin the previous year. To date GM has not formally issued the recall and how the repairs will be made. My rep swears that ALL 2005, 2006, and early 2007 coupes with painted tops will be offered a free roof (SMC versus polycarbonate) over the next 12-18 months.
