Hi, all. I'm nearly all set for my first paint correction experience (still waiting for my autogeek shipment to arrive). The car will soon be washed and clayed.

At present, I plan on using optimum hyper polish and a GG random orbital with 6'' white pads. The car will be my wife's 2009 Honda Fit.

Anyone have any tips for me, especially with regard to the hyper polish? I've watched plenty of videos here on autogeek and I think I'm ready to dive in.

Thanks in advance, all!

I will have some experience with it after this weekend :) ... From what I have read, it is similar in cut (if not slightly more aggressive) to Meguiar's M205. If that is the case, you might be able to get away with using a black finishing pad on your wife's Honda depending on what color it is. Honda paint tends to be on the soft side, and if her vehicle is a darker color - the white pad and HP could leave marring. Once again, I don't have any experience with it (yet!) so this is all just hear say, however this brings up the importance of doing a test spot and starting with the least aggressive method first.

Here is a perfect example of soft Honda (Acura) paint... this was my dad's TSX and I was able to get pretty significant correction with a black pad and M205.

One of the things that has peaked my interest enough to purchase Optimum HP is that it is a water based polish and instead of doing a full IPA wipedown, OPT says you can simply wipedown with ONR and all of the polishing residue should be removed. If it really is that easy, it'll be great to use before applying paint coatings :)

Thanks for the advice! It's much appreciated.

My wife's Fit is rally red. Unfortunately, I don't have a grey LC pad. I jut have white, red, and orange. But I think you're right though. A test spot is key. However, do you think I'd be able to get away with testing with the red and orange pads first?
