I get excited about live music, this Saturday I will be headed for the Keswick theater near Philadelphia to see Dweezil Zappa and his current line up do the Zappa plays Zappa concert. Frank Zappa composed and recorded over 200 albums worth of music by the time of his death. His son Dweezil does the ZPZ tour where the current line up performs the music of FZ. If you are into ultra Dynamic live performances, check out the Zappa plays Zappa tour sometime. So, just curious... Any Frank Zappa fans here at AG?

Enjoy the show.

Joe's Garage:

It wasn't very large
There was just enough room to cram the drums
In the corner over by the Dodge
It was a fifty-four
With a mashed up door
And à cheesy little amp
With a sign on the front said
"Fender Champ"
And a second-hand guitar
It was a Stratocaster with a whammy bar

We could jam in Joe's Garage
His mama was screamin'
His dad was mad
We was playin' the same old song
In the afternoon 'n' sometimes we would
Play it all night long
It was all we knew, 'n' easy too
So we wouldn't get it wrong
All we did was bend the string like...

Hey!
Down in Joe's Garage
We didn't have no dope or LSD
But a coupla quartsa beer
Would fix it so the intonation
Would not offend yer ear
And the same old chords goin' over 'n' over
Became a symphony
We would play it again 'n' again 'n' again
'Cause it sounded good to me...

Nice KB, I am thinking something more like this...cool thing about this is it's a composition not an improvisation for which he was famous for performing both.

Mary was great with the ice pick in the forehead, 50 American bucks!!!
Zappa is incredible. Enjoy the show, it should be fantastic.
I saw the show in Baltimore a few months ago on Frank Zappa day and it was sooo incredible!!! I can't wait until Saturday night!!

Here is another of my favorites.

You never knew what you would hear at a FZ concert. Here's one for the Beatles fans of the site. Ike Willis doesn't sound much like John Lennon but he puts his heart into it for sure. I met Ike here in Harrisburg at a FZ tribute show and he hasn't lost any of his voice or his heart. Real approachable guy.. It was a lot of fun.

Back in the day... every college dorm room had a poster of Frank sitting on a toilet, entitled... wait for it... Phi Zappa Crappa.

Other memories brought to mind by Zappa's music involve an M79 Grenade Launcher!

Enjoy the show, Dave!

Thanks John I will, I know I've been blowing this thread up but I found this for the older fans here. This might just be the best live performance I have ever heard. This is exactly what the show on Saturday will be like. Now I'll give this thread a rest.

Whenever winter comes to my area, I'm reminded of one of my favorite Zappa lines (and I paraphrase):

"Watch out where the Huskies go, and don't you eat no yellow snow"

That was the second song they did tonight, they opened with "it must be a camel" and closed the show with "Muffin Man" possibly in honor of Captain Beefheart who sang that song when it was originally performed on the Bongo Fury album. "The Captain" sadly passed away yesterday. Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart paved the way for artistic freedom in music. One has to be rather strange or just have a passion for the arts to listen through a few Captain Beefheart albums. I clearly fit both descriptions.

The show tonight was nothing short of incredible!! They actually brought Frank back from the dead to play 3 different guitar solos in some great never released footage pulled from "the vault".

I took my camera in hopes of shooting some video footage of the show but I chose to respect the theater's request of no photography or recording inside the theater. They performed at the Keswick Theater in beautiful Glenside PA. I grabbed a few pics from outside of the theater.
