Any Macbook fans here?

I've custom built a PC and laptop through Dell. My PC is still awesome...hasn't failed me yet. I maxed out the Dell and it is only 3 years old. It has gotten significantly slower and my battery doesn't last for chit. I can't wait to get a Mac. I have an iPad2 and a 15" Macbook Pro that I have for work, but I can't put any software on it. I would love to put a music sequencer on there like Reason, but my work would just strip it off

I wish I had a mac at work. My work computer only has 1 gig of RAM!?! And I'm on it 10 hours a day. When it runs out of RAM, which happens a few times a day, I just take a break while it tries to free up some space and the hard drive whirs. It also takes 5 minutes to shut-down! Crappy federal government computers! I'm supposed to get a new laptop soon to replace the tower. Who knows when that will happen though. The General Treasury keeps stealing money from us to pay their bills.

ssssoooooooo you're joking right?! What applications, these days, can run on 1 gig of ram?! Man they treat you guys worse than a red headed step-child. GEEZZZ man that is very unfortunate.:doh:

I have an iMac. Great computer. Lets just say i got sick of windows. Its just so horrible.... You got one company making a crappy computer and other company making a crappy OS... put them together and you get a windows computer!!! Macs on the other hand, both OS and comouter are made from the same company... They just WORK together and better! :)

With the release of Windows 7 x64 I have been very happy with the windows experience, I go back and forth between OSX and Windows 7 all day long and they both work very well. Bad hardware is the most likely reason for a bad experience with Win7, the OS is very much improved. Probably the biggest reason OSX works so well, the hardware is always good; and from that standpoint you have to be amazed at how much different hardware Windows actually supports, OSX has 3 versions of hardware to support, Windows has tens of thousands. Honestly Vista SP1 was fine as well, but it had so much bad PR from the initial release everyone rejected it.

For the average user, I think OSX is a better option, sometimes lack of features is a feature ... less chance for PEBKAC errors.

I've been a avid Mac user for years. I have a 13" MacBook Air for when I'm traveling (as well as an iPad, which I actually use more). In addition, at my office, I have a 24" iMac. My main computer at home, however, is my Mac Pro. It's an original Intel Mac Pro, but it's a beast still. I have two monitors attached (24" and 22") and will upgrade the main one to at least 27" in the near future. I have 13GB of RAM and about 2.5TB of hard drive space. I just installed Lion on the Pro. Overall there's nothing that I can't do on my Macs. (I used to be an avid Linux user and did a lot of work in the Windows world, just got tired of having to tweak stuff, fix stuff, reinstall stuff, etc., so I went with something that just works).

I'm also an IT support professional and support roughly 30 MACs of different types (desktops/laptops) here at the office. I also hold Apples' "Apple Certified Support Professional" certification.

Not to steal this thread, but can someone point me to a Mac desktop? Don't do much gaming or music, mostly on the web, banking, stocks, a few spread sheets. Just sick of buying PC's. What might I expect to pay? TIA

I have nothing against Apple or any of their products, buy I prefer my windows or Linux OS. I wouldn't mind buying a MacBook, but I need to finish building my new desktop before I go that route.

Went and got my MAC today... ended up with the 15" screen with the quad core processor. Already lovin' it!

I've been a PC guy since my first computer and in the last year picked up an iPad and really like it.

I've been looking at the 13" MacBook Air...

Need to push away from this thread ASAP...

:D

Mike get the MacBook air! the new ones just came out on Wednesday. They come with the brand new Lion OS that has the feel of IOS integration. You'll love it.... trust us!

Congrats! I'm prob going return my 13 and get the 15" pro, and give my pc to my father. >=D

I have 2 macbooks. I got a base white model back in 2008 and have never looked back. I just bought the new 15" Macbook Pro for college this Monday. It cost me about $2200 with the education pricing. I also got Windows 7 partitioned on part of the hard drive because I'm going into computer engineering. I needed the Windows 7 OS, but I love Macs and will never go back. P.S. there is also a place for PCs too, I just prefer Macs. I own 5 computers. 2 Windows XP desktops, 1 Windows 7 laptop, and 2 macbooks. :props:

Yeah the newer Air seems like a huge upgrade from the earlier model. I don't think your going do much crazy gaming, so the Air or Macbook Pro would best suit you. Great to carry it on the go, and to edit pics/video for AG.

I'm posting from a 13" MacBook Pro right now. I have a 6 or 7 year old eMachines PC with Windows XP which I rarely use because I just can't stand how slow it is. I love the reliability, brilliant screen and picture quality, and the speed of the Mac. Excellent laptop and worth the money. :dblthumb2:
