1, he was a very nice guy and has come back for additional work, also tips. He told me flat out that he was looking for the cheapest guy to do the work. Decided to spend a bit more and go with me because of my quality looked better in photos and I was more pleasant to deal with when inquiring (summarizing his words).
Honestly, I gave up on craigslist very quickly. Everyone is looking for the cheapest guy. You'll get an incomplete sentence asking how much to 'buff' a 1997 pontiac sunfire, then like all craigslist things, they counter offer at half the price. Not the customer base most guys on AGO want or need.
If you decide to try it, have a canned response ready to go:
Hi ______, thank you for contacting me about your ______. I normally like to inspect the vehicle and discuss your concerns before providing any final pricing, but most people opt for a 1-step paint correction, on your vehicle that would be $______ and you can expect that to remove 50%-70% of the surface defects. A more economical option is an all-in-one product that will clean, polish and protect your paint all at the same time, on your vehicle this would cost $_____ and you can expect that to remove 20%-30% of the defects as well as add clarity, depth and shine to the paint. I'm available on ______ or ______ to do an inspection and/or start the work.
