Anybody else use D-300 with a rotary and foam pads?

This is what D-300 used with a foam finishing pad on a rotary does to a darker paint finish. This is before any LSP.

I can sell details that look like this all day long. I'll be using this combo on this weekend's black Mazda correction too. I'll post a few photos of the results into this thread.
 
Actually I just looked over the thread I originally posted this photo in and it was an orange pad and not a finishing pad. Unbelievable results if you ask me.
 
Great work Dave...and thanks for the science project (300/w/rotary) I am sure many of us wondered..and now we know its potential. I can't wait to see it on the black Nissan..so keep us posted. It confirms my belief that "...a compound IS a compound..." no matter the tool used to apply it..it all comes down to technique/experience. Great job...when you are finished "refining" the process....you can come down here to San Antone...and do my bmw! Roger
 
Great result .. I always wanted to try D30016 on LC pad and 3401.

I use around 1100 RPM. I give a lot of the credit to the pads too as far as the hologram free finish goes. The 5.5" Variable Contact pads that Poorboy's World sells work great for finishing hologram free with a rotary. Funny thing is that the pads are marketed for use with the Flex 3401 VRG polisher but I mainly use them with a rotary. Had I used a flat pad on such a curved panel, it wouldn't have finished near as hologram free. Just something I picked up on along the way by doing extensive comparison and observation.

Every time I pick up a detailing tool or product I am comparing how one product or technique benefits over another. This equals constant improvement

Meguiar's D-300 seems to be getting a lot of attention lately and in some circles has been compares to Meguiar's M101 which is available on the European market and not in the US...

I'll do a little more work with it soon...now that the weather's warming up a bit....:props:
 
Ah yes, the never ending experiments. Don't think you guys have cornered the market on experimenting, though, as we do it too!

Case in point - I take care of a couple of cars for a guy in Redondo Beach, a 2007 Mercedes SL55 AMG and a Superformance Cobra, both black. The Cobra loves M205 on a rotary with a W8207 polishing pad spinning at 1200 rpm - the finish is absolutely stunning and completely hologram free with that process on that car. The AMG absolutely hates that process though. In fact, it seems to hate the rotary in general as doing exactly the same process on it yields hologram city. It looks like it was just hit with an old wool pad and an old school compound. And the AMG is not a big fan of the DA Microfiber System either as it will noticeably haze the paint, in fact about as bad as I've seen with the system. But what that paint just loves is D300 on a W8207 foam polishing pad via DA at speed 5. Loves it. No haze, defects gone almost immediately, and the finish is beautiful in no time. And the craziest thing of all? It actually played quite well in direct sunlight on a pretty warm day. Who knew?

So experiment away - just don't expect every experiment to be a winner!!

Sorry to revive this old post, but I was searching on some feedback regarding the exact same topic.

So... Knowing that D300 is meant to be used with an MF pad on a DA, I have a big urge to test it on a HT pad on a rotary.

I've read that it cuts less than M105 but I tend to think that since it corrects quite well on a DA maybe on a rotary it will cut even more/faster.

I can't see the photo that you posted. Any chance to repost ? Any more feedback on the subject since your last post ?

Those are some very interesting results you got for sure! I know what you mean with some AMG not liking the MF at all. I have had the same problem with some. Where are you at in RB? My company works in South Bay and we have some clients in RB as well. Love seeing other detailiers that use the AG. Its a rare thing for sure! There are so many fly by night operations are here especailly with summer coming up that everyone thinks that they can start up a detailing company.
 
What about D300 with a DA like the 7424? Has anybody tried that?

Well, I'm not based in Redondo - I work for Meguiar's in Irvine (I run our forum) and do some detailing on the side for mad money and to keep myself sharp and exposed to different situations.

Well, D300 was specifically designed for DA use and is part of our DA Microfiber Correction System, so I'm not really sure what you're asking here. If you're asking "has anyone used it on a foam pad with a DA?" then, yep. See my post a few above here where I mention having great results with it and a W8207 foam polishing pad on that SL55 AMG.

Thanks for chiming in Mike, you make one of the points I make here about how "Paint Systems" are different.

Cars have "paint systems" on them and they change. The paint system used on a 2011 Ford Mustang might be different from the paint system used on a 2012 Ford Mustang but there's no way to know? There's also no way to know how ANY paint system is going to react until you do some testing...
