Anybody ever do a Bondurant driving school class?

We're a partner of Bob's. My children have done his Teen Driver course (and the BMW Street Survival program), and I've done the ZR1 class, the 3 day HP driving, and the GP Road Racing. I want to do the 3 day Kart clinic next.

I've done the Corvette class at Spring Mountain in Pahrump, NV and the Richard Petty 3 day NASCAR school in Charlotte, also.

While the NASCAR stuff is faster (180 on the straight the 3rd day), the Bondurant classes are more useful for day to day driving, improving your confidence level and making you a smooth driver (which in my opinion is the most important). Understanding vehicle dynamics (how they act/respond) is crucial to being a good driver, particularly in quick-developing situations..

Take any of his courses you can. Take a friend, too - it's more fun.

Did two of his schools.

The first was in 1971 when he was at the Ontario Motor Speedway and the second was shortly after he moved to Sears Point Raceway. I think it was 1974.
Had a lot of fun and learned quite a bit too. I was a habitual early braker and I was shown how much faster you can get around a track by spending your money on tires and brakes instead of your engine.
It is astounding how much better a current car stops and handles even compared to track modified car from the seventies.

But the very best driving school I ever went to was an ice driving school in Finland. Incredible fun and it really taught me that if you are going to live anywhere it snows to invest in a second set of wheels with snow tires.

I did the SRT one day last year. What a blast, no class time, all car time. There are a few different sections of the class, one is the road course which starts slow, but the better you do the faster the instructor goes. I would love love to do a Bondurant class.

Thanks for the feedback guys...

I have done the Grand Prix and advanced road racing courses. I have also done the full gamut of Skip Barber. This stuff is not cheap so be sure to pick the course you will get the most applicable training and the most fun from. For instance, as a racer, I walked out of Skip Barber with a competition license.

Sent via telepathy.
