due to lemon law or other consumer protection stuffs?

in 2007, my wife had a new '07 Si sedan that was a total disaster and was taken back by our broker before Honda got involved. curious if anyone has had anything similar happen with a manufacturer.

I had my 1996 Chevy Caprice SS bought back under the Lemon Laws in Florida. The car had a faulty drive shaft and it took over a year and an attorney. The manufacutrer has three documented tries to fix the issue before it can be considered a lemon law case. I wasnt prepared for the fight that Chevy put up but they finally gave in. It was not a pleasant process and to this day I will not own any General Motors product.

Never myself but I know a guy who had his Toyota pickup bought back by Toyota due to frame corrosion in that particular model. They gave him 125% KBB, which was about $3500 since it was over 10 years old.

my car came damaged and continues to show increased signs of even more damage. the problem is...any attempt to fix would devalue the car. i paid new car money, not refurbished car money, you know?

That was the big fight I had with GM. They were stuck on a figure I could not live with. I demanded that I be made whole and get full purchase price since the defect was certainly not my fault. We finally settled out of court for purchase price minus tax and tag fees that I paid. I still wasn't happy. The dealer really got the bad end of the deal and lost some money on their holdback and such.

I think each state varies but typically it is three documented attempts to fix the issue before you can open a case.

1995 nissan maxima. Using 1.5qt per 3k miles @12k miles on the odometer. No lemon law, but was given full money back on anything else they made. This was by agreement. Got a 97 maxima that was perfect for 14 years outside of normal maintenance.

Did you know it was damaged when you signed for it? If so, you are probably out of luck. If not, they are in violation and the sale should be voided.

My mom has an Audi TT convertible and we've been having problems with the soft top motor. It would stop working in the middle of putting it back up. This happened 4 times. The 4th time they actually had an engineer from Audi come and fix it. So far nothing yet but if it happens one more time they will buy the car back.

I bought my girlfriend (wife now) one of the original Saturn SC2 coupes. Literally anything and everything went bad on the car and for two years we dealt with it. Luckily our rep was on vacation one week went something else went wrong and his temporary replacement immediately stepped in after seeing the file. They replaced the car with a brand new one (two years later) for no additional cost. They even allowed us to add leather (wasnt available first year).

I believe all manufacturers have issues as automobiles are all mass produced and many parts aren't even from the manufacturer directly. Its how they deal with it that can earn or lose a client for life.

I had one of the first 6.0 ford diesels in my 2003 f250. It was so bad that it got the the point the Ford dealerships master mechanic would call me to diagnose some issues I might of had with it on other trucks. Thankfully the dealership worked with ford and bought it back, it was amazing to see the dealer take a yellow can of paint out and spray demo on it.

Sadley I did not have the 2004 replacement for more than a year as the transmission arrived to the dealer broken, and between EGR / back pressure sensors failing monthly, failing injectors, and two turbos blowing, I went to a Nissan Titan that I ran for 138,000 trouble free miles.

I haven't even mentioned the weekly code updates Ford was releasing to fix the 6.0 POS. :nomore:

oh heck no, hehe. i never would have accepted it. and unless i pulled the car inside and studied it...or, if outside, looked at it in the day AND the night, i'd never be able to see all of this stuff. the bumper started popping off immediately after driving. the rear stuff was kinda of obvious but i didn't notice the haloing until i pulled it into my garage after prep. the latest issue, the bubbling paint, didn't show until the end of last week!

i mentioned it in another thread that was more about my particular car, but today i had the paint measured and the GM of a local body shop i am very familiar with said there is 100% no way that the front fender with the bubbling was NOT painted post-production because it has double the paint measurement of adjoining panels

so that means...to make this car right...they need to paint the left rear quarter/roof rail to a-pillar/front door/rear door/fender/hood and replace/paint the bumper! ha!

needless to say, i'm not accepting that.

I had a 1986 Allante (I was the first retail purchaser of the brand). I had a minor problem with the rear soft top pulldown. The pulldown was a motor device which sometimes would not grab and had to be cycled sometimes two or three times. Not a big one but nonetheless an inconvenience. Cadillac took it back and gave me a new one after a year and a half. I did not ask they offered. They even paid the title and transfer fees.

I had a 90 toyota celica that went to arbitration for oil consumption. New motor installed at no cost to me.

11 dodge ram with bad paint, and even worse re-paint. Pics in my gallery. Still waiting on chrysler's decision. Truck turns 1 yr old this week and have been fighting since day 5.

My original '07 LP640 was a buyback. The "check engine" light kept coming on. They actually sent the car back to Italy and had the engine rebuilt. I got a new car.

1995 Chevy blazer ,bad drivetrain, and 2008 jeep wrangler, leaked like the titanic. Went back 10 times then Chrysler took it back and gave me a hell of a deal on a2010 . It leaked too, sold it

Call the district attorney immediately, they sold you a knowingly damaged car as 'new', thats fraud and they can lose their license. One call from him and that dealer will be giving your money back, including taxes ect, pronto.

that one had all the details so i had it hidden. this one is probably going to disappear too. long story short is they are buying me out but i might have to sign an NDA. not sure yet. i meet with my broker and lawyer tomorrow to shake out a final number for them to meet.

thanks for all of your support. this is the unfortunate by-product of dealing with a corporation but on the positive side, the little guy apparently has won (i'll feel more comfortable saying that once i have a check in my hand and an STI out of my garage).
