anyone ever had their car bought back by the manufacturer?

Buying you out but not a new sti?

yeah. so far. it's easier for them to just buy me out and leave me without a car, hehe.

really though, they can't source a new one like this. Subaru dealers are small and a select few get alotted STIs for dealer stock. and of those, rarely are they ISM (silver) hatchbacks. and for orders, the lead times are 8-12 weeks, on average. i waited about 8 weeks for mine when i ordered it.

i am asking them if they could help me source one quicker than that if i were to go back to a subaru. if they can, then i'll ask them for a loaner for the time being.

I'd be surprised if they made you sign a NDA relating to what was wrong with your car, maybe about the price they give you. They won't admit anything, so there isn't really anything for you to disclose.

Btw, I'm glad things are going in the right direction now :)

thanks!

i haven't signed anything yet, and they didn't mentioned an NDA re: buying the car back, only if i elected to have the repairs. but that could just be an omission by the person who wrote the email.

better safe than sorry at this point. whatever i need to do to get the hell out of this pile.

I bought a 98 Mark 8 new in 98, took it to my local stealership with 1200 miles on the Odo. Left it with them for 1 week for a AC blend door issue.
They put 198 miles on it, wrecked it, blew the rear and trashed the interior.
The had the body fixed before I saw it and I picked the car up after hours.
Turns out they took the entire passenger side off of it.
Short story- 18 Months and 11,000 miles later Lemon Law saved my butt.
Full reimbursement minus the miles.

I had my 1996 Chevy Caprice SS bought back under the Lemon Laws in Florida. The car had a faulty drive shaft and it took over a year and an attorney. The manufacutrer has three documented tries to fix the issue before it can be considered a lemon law case. I wasnt prepared for the fight that Chevy put up but they finally gave in. It was not a pleasant process and to this day I will not own any General Motors product.

chevy never made a caprice SS but they did make a impala SS
