Anyone excited about the new NFL season?

Funny you should ask that, PaulMys. I used to live and breathe the NFL when the rivalries fueled the sport and hard hitting and defense made it fun for me to watch. The Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers with their rivalry, the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redkins with theirs, watching Earl Campbell and the Houston Oilers, Howard Cosell, Dan Meredith, it was fun to watch football for me then. It's a sad shell of the game it used to be now. I don't have an interest in it anymore. Bad tackling, penalties on every play, calling to New York after watching a replay of the replay to decide what to call, talking heads who all sound the same saying nothing of interest and making you wish there was somebody, anybody, who could make you excited about watching football again. It's boring.

I much prefer college football. Sooooo many games on TV you can see a large variety of teams.

They're not bad at tackling, they're just no longer allowed to do it without getting flagged for unnecessary roughness.

I'll always remember how smart Vaugn Miller played in the Superbowl... He could've went for a highlight reel knockout sack on Cam Newton, [and it could've easily resulted in a penalty] but instead he made the wise decision to strip the ball and give his team a TD.

He did it twice in that game. If there was ever a defensive player that deserved Superbowl MVP it was him.

Not really; it's hardly like I
used to remember it being.

IMO...
The trending continues, towards the total
"Wussification of America":
Sad to say...but I see it everywhere!!

Apparently, the NFL can not say it is
immune to this "movement".

Everything you boys said is the EXACT truth.

THANK YOU!!

Grew up in LA a die hard Ram fan, move to SF bay area in the 1979 so took 2 decades of abuse from 49er fans. Figured I moved out of LA before the Rams so the team moving to St Louis really did not matter, but hey they are back.
Always look forward to Sunday games, have redzone and as the wife says it's the only time I sit in one spot for more than 20 minutes.

I use to love sports, now I hate sports. It's nothing but a big waste of time. So much more important stuff in the world to focus on and work on. Analyzing your favorite teams statistics will get you no where fast in life lol

I lost interest in baseball after the 1994 strike. Haven't been able to keep up with the Packers with my work schedule. I used to get so worked up over the outcome of the games. Now I couldn't care less. I treat Packer games like a sitcom. Just entertainment.

Well said. If you're going to watch, treat it like entertainment. Don't get wrapped up in it. Sports are nothing more than a distraction.
