I was at pep boys buying wheel cleaner when I found this. Anyone ever use it? I wonder how well it works. Ive been waxing my headlights to try and keep them clear. This looks like an interesting alternative if it works.

Looks like it's probably similar to the Headlight Sealant that Meguiar's packages in with their Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit.... I have no idea how long either lasts, as I haven't had the chance to do any durability testing with the Meg's product which I do have.

Funny to see the old-stock NXT... I think I've got at least one bottle of that lurking around on my shelf still as well.
 
I've used the Mothers Plastic Polish on the head light lenses. It takes a few applications to get the lenses cleaned up but it works. PasticX works better because it's more abbrasive. I use the Mothers Plastic Polish on all the chrome on my Mercury G.M. as well as on the clear coat tire rims followed by a non abrasive wax. I use minimum rubbing on the crome, just enough to remove the crud that the car wash did not remove. Don't use PlasticX on chrome it's way too abrasive.
 
Perhaps one of the chemists on the forum can comment on this product. It's formulated with a strong ratio of POLYDIMETHYLSILOXANE, a silicon polymer present in many types of paint sealants, water repellent coatings, etc. Does this chemical block UV? How long would it last?

PDMS is UV resistant under 350nm. So you have at least some protection from most of the UV spectrum but not the 350-400nm part of it.

There may be other sunscreening products in the formula that are essentially unreactive and not hazardous (not on the MSDS) that could block in the higher wavelength regions.

PDMS is pretty durable if the constituents in the formula allow cross linking well. You might get a few months of protection, but it sure won't be a permanent solution.
 
Mike, was that an original release/bottle of nxt? It looks super retro.
 
If I recall correctly NXT was originally released in 2001 or 2002 (when the "Fast and The Furious" tuner crowd was a big thing)....

I don't have the box from my original bottle of NXT anymore, but I do have one of the original wall banners:

I agree. Ive thrown away about 5 of mine so far. I use them for dirty work like wipiing off excess tire shine, dead bugs/bird poo, and buffing my magnaflow tips.
 
I just threw out my original can of NXT wax last week...
