Anyone heard of a new Porter Cable?

I'm with Meghan, I don't think Meguiar's has a "new" model, just the XP model badged with a Meguiar's sticker.

So what do I win for guessing correctly? :buffing:

Of course, I also see Mike Stoops just posted this over on MOL:

While we really do understand your frustration (you guys want to buy these tools and we'd love to be selling them to you!) all we can really tell you at this time is that we're dealing with some issues completely unrelated to quality or design. Obviously that leaves the manufacturing stream as the culprit - and that encompasses a surprisingly broad mix of areas to contend with, some of which become even more complex due to geo-political ramifications.

Honestly, we're not trying to side step the issue or put up a smoke screen, it's just that there are certain aspects of this that we just aren't at liberty to discuss. Yes, we understand that we're losing sales because of this; that's just a given as it's impossible to sell what we don't have. And we very much appreciate those of you who are being patient and holding off purchasing a tool until the G110v2 is back in stock. We promise, as soon as we have word that tools are on the way to our distribution center, we'll let you know.

So who knows.... given the vague nature of his message we could still all be wrong -- but your observation from B-J over the weekend would seem to support the thought that a PCXP rebadge is likely on the horizon.

Yes, we were selling Porter Cable 7424XP tools at Barrett-Jackson over the weekend, but no, they did not have Meguiar's stickers on them. We also are not rebranding the 7424XP as a Meguiar's tool now nor do we have plans to in the future. Those tools were there merely as a stop gap effort while our own G110v2 is still out of stock. At a recent event we left attendees a bit disappointed following the buffer demo because we had no buffers to sell them. They got all excited seeing what they could do with a quality DA but when they couldn't immediately purchase one, it sort of took the wind out of their sails. So we arranged for a small quantity of PC 7424XP tools to be available in our truck at Barrett-Jackson to alleviate that. And following the demos, folks were heading over to our guys to purchase the buffer, backing plate, pads, liquids, etc. Really just as simple as that.
