I purchased some Pinnacle Crystal Mist QD spray from this website a few months ago when it was on-sale. I had read that they were getting rid of all of the old formula to make room for the new VOC compliant product.

A few questions. Does anyone know where I could score some additional Pinnacle Crystal Mist detail spray, pre VOC compliant? I have googled it to death and only find the new stuff.

Second, does anyone have any experience with both the new and old Pinnacle Crystal mist? Is the new VOC compliant formula as good as it's predecessor? If not, does anyone have any other QD suggestions for me based on knowing that I loved the old Pinnacle Crystal Mist QD?

All comments and help are greatly appreciated!

call Dwayne or Meghan tomorrow and see if theres any backstock !

Original Crystal Mist ---qd'er+ ... added pop, and glow and amazing booster to carnaubas. Not the best for minor cleanups, but it worked.

New Crystal Mist --- a little less booster, and quite a bit better a lite cleanups. Moves closer to a qd'er but still adds some addtl gloss.

Souveran Spray Wax --- super original Crystal Mist. More durable than the original, while still adding alot of depth, pop, and gloss. It is clearly a booster or qd'er+ in that it should last longer than just one wash.

So can I assume that I would be happy with the Souveran Spray Wax as you seem to describe as the Original Crystal Mist on steroids?

I've gotten 4-5 weeks out of Souveran Spray Wax.........on a well prepped surface.

Very easy to use and a little goes a long way. You might want to look at DP's Final Gloss though. My favorite. You can spray it on while the car is wet and then dry. I actually aids in the drying process and looks really good.

just go with aqua wax :) cheap and super effective...

while nice, I think this is one is over hyped a bit. Never seems to last more than one wash. Some very light streaking was also noted if car was not damp. Just my .02 ...

Justin- thanks for the heads up on the DP Final Gloss. I'm going to try some. I too often use Aquawax. Works best for me on a dry car....no problems. Use it once a month or so.

Good info, that clears it up nicely. ;)

Killrs got it right on his breakdown of the three. I have used all of them, as many on here have, and I can def. tell a diff. between the Souveran Spray and the CM, but less of a diff. b/w the two Crystal Mists.

Nevertheless, both old and new CM are in my stock and will be used as daily QDs before class, work, and practice.

I've noticed that too. Aquawax streaks. And you can really see on blacks and dark color vehicles. I'd only use it for light color vehicles, like white.

Their other product, Fast and Clean or something like that is the same look, no streaks, and lasts just as long. (likely a wash or two) It just appears to be diluted a little. Thus probably why they offer Aquawax is best used on a damp surface.

It never streaked once on my black car....in direct sunlight. Sound like application error. Al never has problems either and he uses the stuff all the time, and states it lasts far more than a wash or 2, more like 6 weeks.

I never had it streak except once using it over PoorBoys Spray and wipe..and I just wiped the paint down with Fast And Shine and did AW again and no streaking...As far as lasting..I had it last a good 6 weeks no problems...on just polished paint...the slickness degraded after 3 weeks but the tight beading remained...streaking can come from using to much...I use 1 spray per panel...I use the same cloth to wipe it in and another to wipe it off...as the wipe in cloth gets damper with the product I spray less on the paint as the cloth is already wet with the AW...DG said their test panels went over 6 weeks with AW on them with weekly washings and it was still holding it own after that time...

There was some one on another forum who tested it against zaino CS on his car and the AW beaded better after 7 weeks then the zaino....Not sticking up for DG ..But I do give them credit for having a OTC product that will out last the high price stuff....out of the 100's of reviews on forums of the product..not a bad one ..and they all say how good it lasts....even a few here say they get 6-7 weeks on it...

Al

i think regardless if it streaks or doesnt streak..how long it lasts...etc...the price point makes it worth having...i use it as a lube for my drying towel every now and again...leaves a slick finish behind...and lsp ready if i want to...

Your results with AW are definitely in the minority. I'm not sure why you're getting streaking. I use it on my two dark cars (black and gray) with no streaking (I apply a very light mist, rub in, then wipe with the dry side of the mf.). Also, it lasts for much longer than one wash for me...as well as for many other users. Perhaps you got a bad bottle???

FWIW--I love this SSW. Super wasy to WOWO and head and shoulders over QD.

I never had DG#951 streak at all. Been getting 2 -3 weeks on my truck sets outside 24/7. The wife car longer, it's not outside like my truck.
