Anyone not use a sealant?

Wax only, but looking at several fast-curing sealants for wintertime.

I use both. I keep my wifes car sealed, on my car I don't mind re-applying carnaubas every 3-4 in the summer, in the winter I'm using collinite or Ex/EX-P.

I have sealants, but I have not yet used them. I am going to try them out though.

LAUREN...... You have to try WGDG sealer...... awesome.....:applause:

Thanks for the info everyone. I will try going wax only for awhile and see how it goes. I'm going to miss UPP though.
Well I tried Souveran today for the first time. On my car I had danase speed glaze->upp->nb->aw before I began. I washed GC with a foam gun because my dp extreme foam ran out. I let the GC soak on the paint for 2-3mins to let it try to take off the AW and maybe a little NB. After that I put on another coat of speed glaze and then the souveran. By the way, this acryllic glaze is good. You can put it under sealants, over sealants and over, under carnauba (or so I'm told... still experimenting). The souveran is definately butter like. In fact, since this was my first time I kind of 'didn't trust it'. In other words I couldn't believe that this buttery stuff was going to actually still be on my car in the morning. So... I didn't actually do a wowo. I let it sit for 5 mins until it hazed. I'm used to NB so I needed that slightly hard to remove feeling to let me know that there was bonding or something like that. First time jitters I guess. Anyway, souveran looks a little better than nb to me on my car. A little wetter, a little clearer. Maybe NB is a little deeper which I like but I won't know for sure until tomorrow because I finished after it got dark. I hope the moisture won't affect the souveran like it will wolfgang. I also tried the polishin pal and I don't like it. I was kind of upset because I asked the autogeek guy on the phone if the polishin pal was able to get into small areas like between the mirror and the paint between the doors and the windows and he said "yes, it's very soft and can bend and contour to small areas and you can 'form' it to various shapes of the areas on the car. Well, it's not soft at all and it will definately not bend at all and there were tons of areas of my car that I couldn't do with the p.pal so I was a little . I had to switch to foam applicator. $25 gone. Anyone want a polishin pal? Also, I don't like the way you can't 'feel the paint' while you're using it. It's like your disconnected. The souveran applicator I liked however.
So tomorrow I will put on another coat of souveran and call it a week. I like it.
Nice smell too.

The main reason I dont use sealants is because they will not bond over oils and I love the look of RMG and megs dc2 (#7 does nothing for me, tried it many times).

Also as a cleanser I like to use p21s paintwork cleanser, and if you leave that perfectly still for a long time it will separate and you can see even that contains oils, so again sealants won't bond over it and I love how the paint feels after the p21s cleanser.

But for some reason on the meguiars forums they think that just because all the products are made by the same company that they are all compatable. For instance you will see users there using #7 followed by #21 or even NXT. I simply dont understand how they expect a sealant to bond over the oils in #7 but they do it anyway.

UPP rocks, my fav sealant. That said with the new polycharger it becomes Zaino on steriods. Looks better, far slicker, and about as durable. Just remember when using UPP alone, slickness drops off fast but sealant works for about 8 weeks. Use their qder+ to keep it popping.

In regards to polycharged UPP, how long does the slickness last compared to without it? How does the polycharger effect the look of UPP? I couldn't believe the slickness the first time I used UPP but it did fade fast. I also used UPPS and liked it as well.

Yes, UPP is nice. I think I'll buy a polycharger next. Does anyone know a link that explains in more scientific detail how polychargers work? Why is the material you add it to only good for a couple of days? What exactly is going on with the polymers?
Do you think a polycharger is worth it?

Update --
I put on a second coat of souveran just now. I think that last night since I was waxing at night the souveran didn't like the moisture because it was TOO buttery and didn't even have a hint of hazing. Today when applying it it actually felt like I should I think. After 1 minute there was that very slight hazing 'wax' feeling so I know it was working. My car looks great now. I used collinite on the wheels and pinnacle black onyx tire gel on the tires.
Also tried crystal mist for the first time. I used to think Mother's showtime was good but this stuff is awesome.:awesome:

A couple of after pics...

Is it worth it??? good question.......I know WGDG is just as slick as my fav sealer.....UPP... POLY CHARGER?? not ready to add anything yet to any of my favorites....

I love 845, I do all my customers cars with it. It lasts a long time and looks great. Just have to make sure you go really really thin with it. I've noticed it leaves a hazy look if you put too much in one spot and it's a real pain to wipe off. I haven't spent much time on my old junk 97 monte lately, I put a coat of 845 on it almost 6 months ago and it is still beading fairly well. I run it through the car wash about every other week too, so that shows how durable the stuff really is.

Yes you can use wax over a sealant but not the other way around, now most glazes will not work/bond under sealants due to the high oil content ;)

good advice,:iagree: :awesome:

I love sealant. I have a combo of Prima Amigo Glaze, and Danase Wet Glaze that I use as base for my sealants
Waxes, I love waxes, it's just that I've been favoring sealants now for their durability and protection for the crazy Colorado weather
I currently own 2 waxes; M26, Victoria Concours. If I'm going to buy more waxes, it will definitely have to be Pinnacle Souveran, and Collinite 845. I will most likely get them both
