So, I finally ran out of the coating v1 last year, worked decently well. I just bought the v2 for this year... Anyone compared the two in terms of usability, so called dirt shedding etc?

Last time, it was said that I could polish the car, then wipe down using N914 at panel wipe strength and that would remove all polish reminiscence etc and then the panel would be ready to apply the coating... would that still hold true for this new version?

Can I still do 2 coats of the coating as well? If so in what time frame?

Oh lastly, what about avoiding rain/dew from overnight to the morning? Basically if I apply the coating, and it dew's overnight is that okay? What about the time frame of avoiding rain after the coating is applied?

Thanks guys.

I've used both. To me, the application was similar. It's supposed to last longer. very easy to use. I applied 2nd coat 2 hours after first.
Dew? No clue, I live in AZ and have a garage. From memory, avoid rain for 24 hours and no washing with detergent for a week.
In summary it's just like V1, but longer lasting, at least to me. It plays very well with CanCoat, Kami Overcoat, 22PLE VS1 FC, and Cure on top of it.
I figure 5-6 layers per bottle, at least...and I am heavy handed.

Yeah... I wonder if you can reapply over the coating at say the 3-6 month mark, or do you always have to strip it off before you can reapply?

Hum. I see no reason you could not apply on top of it after a few months. Maybe a chemist could shime in on this. I would de-contaminate the paint (Fallout remover, tar remover, road film remover) then use a paint prep such as Isopropyl alcohol or Car Pro eracer then re-coat.

If it doesn't work and it looks bad, you can polish it off and re-coat naked paint. The product is really inexpensive so trying it it not gonna be a big issue either way.

Thanks. I've been trying to get a hold of Nick but I guess he doesn't get on anymore?

Hello. :)

One coat is all that's recommended. This is an example of more is not always better. Maintain that one coat using McKee's 37 Hydro Blue and Sio2 Auto Wash.

You should avoid water and moisture for at least 12 hours.

Thanks. I've been trying to get a hold of Nick but I guess he doesn't get on anymore?

I appreciate you being so patient. You're more than welcome to call the 844 telephone number on the back of the bottle if you need immediate assistance. McKee's 37 is open 7 days a week. :xyxthumbs:

Good to know.. the n914 after polishing is okay still and recommended?

Also if the paint looks okay, and I don't need polish, how should I go about adding a coat of the new stuff? Do I have to polish?

I did a video comparing them side by side in the short term. YouTube

One thing I did notice was V2 showed to be darker on the paint over time, it wasn’t something I noticed in the immediate short term but after a few washes and the right lighting I could see the distinct line between them. V2 has held up incredibly well on my front bumper - has to be about 5-6 months now since applying.

I wouldn't worry too much about the dew. I full on washed both CQUK and McKee’s V2 after a few hours of curing and the McKee’s held up much better than CQUK, stronger water behavior after the wash and it will continue to cure after you dry the paint. Not sure how much this would have hurt the long term performance but I was surprised to see Mckee’s fare better, given that if both cure properly CQUK will be more hydrophobic.

914 at paint prep strength works great, you won’t have any problems.

I've used a bottle of both. V2 gets a little sticky when applying and flashes quicker, but once cured it is slicker and longer lasting than v1. I had more high spots with V2 to buff off than V1 also. I've layered V2 and V1 a few hours apart without issue.

Just don't call Nick in the middle of the night. It's giving ME a nervous tic thinking about Nick having that McKee's phone on his nightstand.

When you guys buffed it off, how long did you wait? Just spread and right away buff it off?

I don't want take this off track too much but my approach to additional "layers" of a coating (or any LSP) are done when the first layer is freshly applied. I've never wanted to lay down more, fresh LSP on one that is mid life. My own personal theory is that there may be weak areas of the first layer that may release the grip on the paint and not only take that off but any fresh layer just layed down. I am no chemist and it's just what I think might happen with any additional coats or layers on a previously applied layer some months ago.

However, there are very few LSP's I layer anymore. One layer is enough and now with Nick's comments confirming that for his coatings is good to hear.

With that said, I always at least polish off and expose the paint to accept a new LSP. I like to give that LSP bond-to-paint the best chance of doing it's thing and adhering directly to the raw paint.

Again, boys and girls...just my approach and agree or disagree. It's all good!

With regard to M37 ver 1 vs. ver 2 I can't wait to get my hands on V2. I am still exhausting my supply of V1 and I'm almost there. I have been extremely pleased with that product for over a year now and have several happy customers to acknowledge that success. Claims of even longer durability of V2? I'm all over that.

Mike and Nick did a video about a year ago about the V1 of the coating. They did not mention any wait period between application and high spot removal. So that is what I do. I apply the coating then wait a few seconds and lighly buff off with a flat microfiber towel. I am not sure if waiting for the product to start flashing would help, like you need to do for Optimum coatings, but I think they would have mentionned it if it was required.

True. I just didn't know how long I should wait to buff off the excess
