anything else I could do.

Two great ideas. Can't wait to try. What do I do with the 2nd bucket and grit guard I just picked up?

If your doing a GDWM you don't need any grit guards. Grit guard are great for cleaning brushes, just spray the brush face with APC and scrub the GG with the brush face and rinse. GG are also good for sitting pads on face down while they dry.

I agree with the wookies fist and carpro wool mitt. These two are your best bet to ensure a swirl free wash. Just be sure to use a pet hair brush on the wookies mitt after it dries to prevent it from getting lots of mats.

This is a pretty good idea I never though of. A GDWM with conventional soap. I kind of do something similar with a Montana Boars Hair Brush on an extendable pole. I just hose it off to rinse it before I put it back in the wash solution. You do use a ton of water, but there are no restrictions where I live.

LOLwish I could take credit for the idea. I thought it was pretty cool too and started using it. I still use a pressure wash presoak most of the time but since the original poster was just getting started with this adiction I didn't want to fan the flames.

2nd bucket can be used to collect dirty mf's.
2nd bucket can be used as a seat ( flip it upside down)
2nd bucket w/ grit gard can be used for a wheel cleaning bucket
2nd bucket can be saved for a back up Im the MAN

Started doing this recently, with an added twist - I use a foam gun to lay a layer of foamy solution in front of the towel as I pass it along the paint (cribbed this idea from Accumulator over on Autopia). So I'm basically doing a no-bucket wash method (the only use for my buckets are to pre-soak the towels in wash solution, and to keep the used towels in). It saves so much time, and the constant flow of foam wash solution means that I'm also flushing out any dirt that gets dislodged, helping reduce marring even further. As you say, you do use a lot more water and wash solution, not to mention having to clean more towels, but the time saved and reduced marring are worth it for me.

I still have a stack of Costco towels I've never even used

Costco towels make great sunglass cleaning towels. I keep 1 0r 2 in each of my cars for that sole purpose.

They WILL cause micromarring on soft clear coat, ask me how I know
