AP Mobile Detailing: 2007 Civic White - The Works! (70+ pics!)

Hey everyone,

Edit: Car is 2007 not 2009, hit wrong key :)

I've finally gotten around to using the new camera to photograph detailing jobs that I've been doing. Sorry for going crazy with the pictures, I'll be marking spots on the ground from now on where I should take the pictures, and I'll be documenting where and when so I can do a proper write-up in terms of what the problem was, what solution was provided, what the result was.

I just got excited taking the pictures of the car that I forgot that basic principle to keep the write-up clean and efficient. Anyways, I went camera happy and I took a lot of pictures of the car, but I did document some things and I'll explain them throughout the write-up. Please bear with me, I was dealing with on and off thunder storms the entire day, so some pictures were shot inside.

The Car

A 2007 White Honda Civic Sedan, bought new by the owner who looked me up on a forum I'm part of based on past work I've done for a lot of those members there. Based on pictures of his car that he sent me, I offered a wash, clay and vacuum, he opted for the whole shebang including the polishing and sealant application. Since I love doing this kind of work, I agreed.

The car was covered in a greasy, grimy film that only shows on white paint because the owner admitted he hasn't taken the time to wash the car at all since the winter time, and that while he did clay it himself, he noticed a lot of the orange rail dust/industrial fall out, cling on dirt that sticks to white paint a lot. Also the car was dented on the rear driver side door and there was a lot of paint rub off. However, because the car had been babied for a bit, there wasn't heavy swirling, so I could use a lighter polish to remove it.

Wash

- Foamed with DP Extreme Foam
- Washed with Poorboys SSS
Clay
- Riccardo Yellow Clay Bar
- ONR Based Clay Lube
Polish
- Menzerna 106ff on a white pad
- Paint clean-up with XMT360
LSP
- Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze (sometihng we all have and dread using, :))
Interior
- Wiped down and disinfected with Megs APC 10:1
- Dressed and Protected with 303
- Odor Gon Applied

Thanks for looking!

Can that ding on the rear door be removed with PDR?

Nice job. Need more pictures J/J. Have the same pump sprayer, love it.

great job on the detailing. That's why I don't get white cars though... that rail/brake dust just pops out like zits on a face.

Curious... how much does a job like that cost?

I can't say it was a happy meal or sub of the day type job...I will say that I was fair in taking care of the car, and that I was reasonable and competitive vs. garage/pro detailers.

Very nice job, and excellence job on posting the pictures and info.

Great job! What a turnaround! The white looks VERY wet!

All white (and light colored cars) cars seem to have those rust specs, and aggressive clay would definitely make the job go faster.

Great work. I bet the owner was thrilled. They probably thought it was a new car. lol.
