Well it was kinda a funny story .... wife has been begging me for a SUV since the baby showed last year. I have been relucant as her car is paid off, she stays at home, and the car is a beautiful 03 CTS with less than 25k miles with most toys and a pearled clearcoat paint.

So this morning I got the bug to detail the heck of the the engine. She thought I was nuts but it wasnt looking anywhere near respectible and clearly was the only eyesore. Used some DP Exterior Cleaner , which made relatively quick work of the dirt and dressed up the lines with some 303. Even added a new in cabin air filter.

So off we go to have some lunch and run some errands. Got over near a local Cadillac and decided to see whats in stock. (I really wanted to see the new STS-V in person, as only car I would sell the Vette for currently). My wife see's a dark charcoal grey SRX and needless to say it appears she is getting one super Mother's Day gift.

They offered top dollar for her car as they could not believe the shape and look. (First funny remark from salesman) "That car is beautiful have you had it stored ?? I have never seen a car that didnt look touched." When the manager came out to price the unit, they opened all the doors, trunk, and hood. The salesman is pointing out each door jam and how they sparkle (thanks Clearkote Quikshine). Finally they got to under the hood (full circle from where this day started) and all the salesman could do was give me thumbs up. The salesman finally says to me later "no offense as I am suppose to sell you a new car, but why would you get rid of something that most would consider new". I replied ...."you gotta wife ??"

So tomorrow morning as long as the deal holds true, the wifey will have a new ride. And I will need a ladder and some more time and a new test bed for more products. In truth she deserves everything I can give, and her's and my son's safety are the most valuable consideration. Now onto measure the garage, as I need to make sure it fits.

Congrats to her. Make it look pretty... then I want some pictures.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh How sweet is that!! Two thumbs up Scott. That's one heck of a mother's day gift! :D

Guess I'll have two Cadillac SUVs in the garage. Christophers grandpops decided to buy him an Escalade a couple months prior for his 1st birthday.

Killrwheels,

Glad to hear about the new SUV. :awesome:

Hey Jason ,

Im really gonna need that order now huh ?? Its ashame that I didnt go Nissan as I can get any unit under cost , but the stability control, traction control, auto lift gate, and Cadillacs 4 year warranty were a big concern. Truthfully it was the first time I didnt have to play "the game". They gave me a bare bones deal to move a unit, and respected that I have family in the business.

I rubbed my fingers across the paint on lot, and the salesman looked at me funny. Clay check !

Well Scott, the day is going to come when you are going to need a back seat! :o Wifey will probably want more kids, and well, love your vette but its not a family car.:p Just make sure its black, we know you love to maintain black paint!

i say keep the vette..... or get a m3 or m5:awesome:

Well I am back with what I would call the most pleasurable experience to date in purchasing a car outside family. (most of my family are placed within GM). Coral Cadillac deserves a great kudos for truly treating us like family, and the finance manager was a former employee of my fathers from many years past (20). Not a single hitch, and the wifey has a new truck.

I am actually going to take the day easy and sit back and relax. I will probably wash it tonight, and dress the wheels and wells. (I dont allow dealers to detail my cars, period) Then it will sit for around a week while I start planning for next weekends detailing session. My thoughts:

Wash --- Poorboys Suds (unless the foam gun soap is finally released)
Clay --- Pinnacles Poly Clay and Lube
Polish --- Menzernas P085 Ceramiclear (White Pad)

and here is the perplexing issue:
J eweling --- Red Moose Glaze (grey pad)
protection --- Pinnacle (hmm) , I could revisit Paste Glaz or Cycle Glaze, move to Sig Series, or just Souveran

or:
J eweling --- Menzerna Final Polish
Protection --- Wolfgang Sealant (x 2)
allow curing time and
Final Gloss --- Clearkote Quikshine or FK 425

I was wondering where you went. Coral Cadillac is great, almost bought an Escalade from them when I was looking for something bigger and better for towing (can't have pickups in my community). But I know others who have bought there, great dealer. Them and Pompano Lincoln Mercury are pry the best American dealers I've been too. When we take the LX470 to JM Lexus though, they still have the edge, treat you like a King in a 5 star hotel there.

Other American dealers should learn from Lexus dealers, and other American ones like Coral. There's Ed Morse Cadillac and Delray Lincoln by my house and they suck.

Congrats to you and the wife. You are the pinnacle of Killerwheels

My Little Helper !!

Speaking of Wolfgang tire gloss - what does it smell like? Similar to Black Onyx? So fat Pinnacle is my favorite.:righton:
