Here is my procedure to prepare for winter rainy season here in the Pacific Northwest:
1. Wash with Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax, 4 caps full in 2 gallons warm water
2. Griots Garage Micro Fiber Wash Pad
3. Cobra Supreme Guzzler Waffle Weave Drying Towels
4. SM Arnold Speedy Surface Prep towel to remove the above surface contaminates (substitute
for Clay Bar) using Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer spray as a lubricate
5. Porter Cable DA 7424
6. Lake Country Black 6" Polishing Pad
7. Meguiars Paint Reconditioning Cream
8. Zaino Borderless Blonde Polishing towels

And the results:
 
Nice process the end results made that red paintwork shine like no tomorrow; and its better to start applying early while we all have a chance....excellent work

Using Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer as a clay (or clay-substitute ) lube...is a use for this product that I've never heard or thought of before.

Wait a minute... Its August. So you put all this heavy duty sealant on it and it fails about Christmas when its too cold to reapply?

I always try to time it for the last "good" weekend of the year. Mid-November around here. The Collinite lasts well enough that I will probably move that up by three weeks or so, so I an get some enjoyment out of the appearance for more than a couple of days, but that's about it. How do you make it last through the winter from August?
 
I still see swirls?
I don't think you're going to see more than a couple months out of D151 either.
 
Looks good. But you will be applying another coat very soon. D151 won't last that long. A white lake country flat polishing pad with D151 would have been a better choice to give you more correction and reduce those swirls that are still there.

I try to apply my winter coat as late in fall as I can. I plan on doing mine this year around middle of october.

Try a sealant like Powerlock or DP Poli Coat for longevity.
 
Gorgeous Audi, I'm also a Euro lover.

As for D151, you will not get that to last all winter at all. Like others, I wait till the last minute to apply my winter protection, and so do my customers, lol.

I'm pretty sure you meant quick detailer as your clay lube as well.....right?
 
Yeah the swirls on the trunk pic are obvious, the ones on the hood REALLY show up! I agree with everyone else, your LSP isn't going to hold up long at all, heck, it will probably not even make it to when fall starts. I would like to suggest some Meg's Ultimate Compound to remove the swirls and if you really want something to make it through the rainy, winter season up there, get yourself some Collinite #476!

Now onto the car itself, STUNNING! Love the choice of O.Z. Superleggera's too:props:

I agree Mike, too much talk about winter, its mid August, not even Labor Day yet, my God, people sound like the weather people locally!
 
I can't figure what did you use for your winter coat, I got the rest of it.
 
We don't even know what winter is right now in Souther California. It's been 80 degrees the past 2-3 years in December. All[art of the drought.

DP Poli-Coat is affordable as well as klasse. Even Meguiar's Ultimate Wax will be good enough to get you through the winter if you are looking for something availabel OTC.
