My plan this weekend is to put a coat of Collonite 845 on using my PC, Hydro-Tech Crimson Pad, and buffing with a microfiber.

My problem is I have no garage and really no where to close to be in the shade. Do you think doing this directly in the sun will affect the process? Should I do the entire car and then buff off as planned or do a few panels at a time?

I guess I could wait until the sun was almost down and do it then, but that would be a limited time frame.

2nd question. How is collonite 845 on trim? Does it stain? I usually tape my plastic off.

Feed back please

it should take you 30 minutes or less to do it using a PC once the sun is down and the car is cool so I'd wait.

hmm, no trim on any of the cars I've 845'd actually (I don't count wiper cowls) so I honestly don't know...

I have applied 845 in direct sunlite ( not because I wanted too) and if you allpy very thin and do a few panels at a time you will be fine.

Treat it as a wipe on wipe off product.......apply to roof and hood....then remove from roof...appy to another panel then wipe off hood and so on...

A great product and very easy to use....just remember thin is in!

If I do it at this time tomorrow I'll be fine. The sun is down far enough where my car is cool and shaded yet I'll have about another hour (more than enough time) of working light.

Also found an old bottle of Meguiars with a flip top to swap with the collinite.

What size backing plate should be used with the crimson 4" pad? I only have a 5" backing plate. DOH

I so happen to have applied 845 directly in the sun today. No problems but I would only do less than a panel at a time. I was able to do the whole shaded side with no problem but when it got the sun I went as far as only doing a half a panel at a time. Took a bit longer but I found it was easier to wipe off as soon as you apply it.
