Applying Tire Dressings

Hi all...

Is there a better way to apply tire dressings without it soaking into the sponge?
I'm sure there's a nice amount that is wasted and my fingers get yucky.

I use Pinnacle Black Onyx gel and assure you it not a gel, more like a liquid and this to apply.

Any suggestions?

I agree...I have and use the same brush and it works fantastic.

I use a spray dressing instead of a gel with the applicator you listed and it works very well. However, after I go through this bottle I may switch to a Meg Gel. Might want to pick these up if I can!

What's a good (great) dressing that works well with those brushes that's not too shiny?

Use a "no mess" applicator, the ones that come in the plastic case. I never do tires without nitrile gloves on tho

I use the eagle 1 tire swipes similar to the above. They fall apart in no time. I also use a "gel" that is like a liquid as well. I was thinking of using an actual sponge and seeing if I could get something small to fit the sponge and dressing in together. Wring out most of the sponge then apply. Put the sponge back in and seal up until next use.

What are you guys using to clean these brushes? Or are you not cleaning them and just storing in a baggie until the next use? I've been using them but find they can be difficult to clean sometimes. I usually use APC at 1:4 and it takes some scrubbing to remove all the gel from the brush.

I've been using the good old cheap paint brush with the bristles trimmed down. Don't havta clean it, just toss it and trim another one.

Yes, me too. I got mine form HomeDepot. 3" brush for $1.5. Trimmed it down and press down the sharp edge corner near the bristles side.

I picked one of those up at pep boys for about $5. I will use it next time.
