Applying waxes - best practices?

The Blue and Red CCS pads are very very similar, I dont think it would make a difference.

There is a red CCS foam applicator pad for applying wax by hand and a normal 6.5" CCS red and blue foam pad for the machines.

I like the applicator pads because they are a lot thicker then normal meguiars applicators.
 
I use the PC with an ultrasoft 4" blue Edge pad, can wax the truck in a fraction of the time compared to by hand and it leaves a perfect, thin, even coat.

I hate to say it because I would have been more than happy to trade, but it's all I've been putting on my wife's Explorer. It looks so damn good, I hate it that I'm almost out. One was probably a lot like the original and current P21S formula and the other was a bit more "gritty" if that's the correct word. But both very easy on, so easy off and they actually lasted quite a long time! The beads are supersmall, unlike any other wax I've ever used.

I've used quite a few waxes and this test wax was definitely the easiest on/easiest off stuff ever.

When I'm all out, I'm going to miss it terribly.
 
I use a cotton terry applicator with a couple shots of QD on it beforehand to moisten it.

Small size of wax on the applicator, spead it across the panel light, then work it in and let it haze up. Then off with an MF towel.

Well, these are the actual wax applicator pads that you use with your hands like the Meguiar's yellow applicator pads. They also have a separate red CCS pas for machine use taht is very similar to the blue CCS pads.
 
+1 on the Polishing Pal--except underneath side view mirrors (too tight a squeeze). Just pop off the applicator and use underneath. Pal works great and less effort than holding onto applicator pad when waxing entire car.
 
By machine I use the 4" white Edge pad. By hand the Megs GC yellow foam pad.
