Are all Clay kits created equal?

I'm in need of a new clay kit, and before purchasing one, I thought I'd get some feedback from you folks.

I had a Meguires kit, which seems fine, I'm just wondering what you folks use, think?

I use the Meguires kit as well. It's easily found in local stores and the included towel is a nice touch.

I like the white color vs the yellow in the Mothers and other kits since it shows the gunk being removed from the paint better.

I'll be curious to hear the responses, as I can't imagine one clay being that much different from another.
 
I think if you like the Meguiars you should keep using it. I like the speedy prep towels. They get the job done much quicker and if you drop it you can rinse it off and keep going.
 
Junkman2000 mentions in one of his videos that the same company makes all the clay for all the companies selling it. So technically there should be very little difference between products from Meguiar's and other brands.
 
All clay sold in the US is made by the same company. It is still under patent. The only difference is the color and the wrapper. Buy what grade you need from a reputable brand at the cheapest price you can.
It's all the same stuff.
 
Yes, all the same except for what comes in the package (microfiber towel, quick detailer, amount of clay, etc.) and the color of the clay. I prefer ehitr to help me see the dirt and grime thats coming off the paint, and I'm hoping to be able to try the Speedy Prep Towels too. I'm tired of throwing away dropped clay!
 
Maybe it is just me but mothers clay feels different than meguiars clay meguiars has more stretch when you fold it and mothers seems to stick to the paint more. Just what I think...idk...
 
then how come you can only use Bilt hammer clay with water and need lube for the rest of them?

Ya know I have to agree with you on that. In a way it's a good thing (OMG, Martha Stewart is channeling), it sticks to your hand better less chance of dropping it. I also 'think' that Mother's may be just a smidgen more aggressive when compared to Meguiar's.

To the OP, any 'kit' from a known company is going to be good to go.

Yeah I agree it does seem more aggressive. And softer at the same time. Also I forgot about the water part a long time ago I read that someone used water and car wash soap for clay lube I tried it with the mothers and it crumbled away and lost all effectiveness. I never tried it after that.
 
Yeah rumor has it US patent // all the same in the US, with that said for a clay kit --> Mothers
for clay --> Meg's pro grade blue clay

Zymol is one that comes to mind; to use their car wash soap and water for lube.
 
I use water with the Meguire's kit and it works well. I set the nozle to "mist" and keep the area wet to ensure the clay doesn't drag/smear.

It sure beats having to go back and wash off the QD before putting down Klasse.
 
Ok, and which foam pads do folks like?

Waterless Wash/Rinseless wash concentrates are so cheap and dilute so well, why risk marring? Add some lube
