Are all yellow hand wax pads the same?

I have about 20 eBay yellow foam applicators and i used them with UPGP, UTTGP, Opti Coat, Pinnacle Souveran Liquid, Pinnacle Souveran Paste, and they work PERFECTLY for me. I no longer wash applicator pads. One time use and throw away.

I have them scratching CD and some soft paint for me.
Yours are fine?

Amazon has them cheap and other online stores have them as well.
You mentioned "cheap".
But price per unit isn't the only factor to consider.

I need to buy a few more yellow hand wax pads again.
What I'm wondering is are the the same? There can't be that many manufactures of them.

No... And to paraphrase an old adage:
They are not all: "cut from the same piece of foam"!

Buff & Shine makes excellent hand application pads. They are made from the same red foam as their 5.5" LSP DA pads--very high density pores so they don't soak up much product, but very soft.

The SM Arnold and older USA made Meguiars are almost identical (other than the Meg logo imprinted). Both are good.
I would use these and toss them when done.

I didn't really care for the yellow AG ones, but they did the job.

I now have been using the CG red one mentioned and that is the nicest one I have used. I wash it and reuse it.

I just received some CCS applicators from LC. Not thrilled, as they look like they have some kind of heat cut lip around the edges:

Maybe I'll use them as tire sponges. If that is heat cutting on those edges, I could see a POSSIBILITY of it making the foam stiffer. Don't know if that could mar or not.

As a comparison, here are the Buff N Shine ones I really like and use:

As an example, here are the Ebay El Cheapos if people are curious about them. They are good to apply dressings to plastic trim. On paint? No.

A MF one from NaviWax. So nice, I can't bring myself to use it:

The Meguiar 4-pk that I bought also has those hard edges. I have used a few of them without any ill effects, but I am definitely careful using them on paint. I had one of the B-n-S red applicators and liked it. It's a little stiff IMO, but it worked well.

I have the eBay ones and honestly they are super thin. I only use them for things like dressings. The big downside is they are thin enough where the dressings go through them and all over your hands.

here a pics of the Pinnacle vs the cheapo china made ones off of amazon, can you tell which is which? in person they look almost alike but the pinnacle has a slight glistening. to the touch they fell pretty close to being same. edges are pretty much the same. if anything the Cheapo is slightly softer to the touch

If you have any "99 cents only" stores near you, I've found some really nice two-packs of Goodyear-branded MF pads like the white ones in Swanic's post. $1 for two really nice quality MF pads. I've stocked up on a ton.

The red B and S are really the best ones. The smaller yellow ones your talking about have become single use wax pads for me, after that they are really only good for some kind of dressing.

The answer to your question is no there not all the same. The cheaper ones are two pieces of foam heat sealed together. Normally these have a really inconsistent edge where the foam is bonded. The ones I have are a solid piece with a pretty consistent edge. But you should go through and check the edge by hand, I got a few that I had to toss because they had a few really hard raised spots along that edge.

Dunno. I'd be cautious about using OTC microfiber towels on my paint - no less a MF applicator but if they work for you and don't scratch. That's awesome.

I'm just too chicken to find out - so I stick with applicators from professional detail supply companies for paint.

As an aside, the black BlackFire applicator pad that comes with Black Ice is awesome. Favorite one yet.
