Are you smarter than a detailer?

I've often thought about doing a 50/50 and seeing if anyone could tell the difference. There's no telling how many times someone has posted a "fuzion" or "souveran" photo and it actually was Collinite or something.

^^^ LOL!!!! Totally agree. Its usually newbies to detailing that think any great looking detail job must have had Fuzion or Souveran on it. While both are great high quality LSP's, I think some people expect way too much out of a wax/sealant and loose focus on prep work.

I don't think you can really tell a difference between any lsp. However, certain ones may look better on different colored cars.

But, garage pictures aren't going to help people decide.

This is exactly what I was looking for! It's so interesting to see all the responses are all over the place. Just thought I'd get everyones brains cranked up for the new year. Tomorrow I'll try to get some outside pics. The high is supposed to be above zero. The high today was exactly zero...no outside pics. Isn't it interesting though how hard it is to tell what the car is covered with yet often people have VERY strong feelings about a certain product?

I will agree with you on that. The fact is people have some products deep rooted into their heart. And thats totally fine. What makes a product your favorite? Is it:

1. Color & Texture.
2. Scent
3. Easy wipe on/wipe off.
4. Presentation of product. Nice quality packaging.
5. Durability
6. High gloss results

Is the product fun to apply yet yield great results? Its the same concept as how people have strong feelings towards motor oil, clothing brands, even politics. We all have our favorites, mine I think is pretty obvious by my siggy. Although as a true detailer and enthusiast, I do use AND acknowledge other great quality products such as Pinnacle, Wolfgang, Zymol, Menzerna, etc.

Turtle Wax is the first car care product I ever used. Its what my dad always bought, he was never big on detailing. Every now and then I go down my store's car care isle and take a wiff of that poop green looking paste, brings back my detailing beginnings as a kid :)

LoL!! When this product first came out we got a free sample at work to try it out. Its nothing more than a sealant loaded with cleaners. Alot of catchy phrases like "exteme shield" to catch the attention of joe consumer.

Funny that you post this because I was thinking of posting something just like this a few weeks ago.

The fact of the matter is, its not about being "smart" enough as detailers to guess your LSP. Its a matter of logic, NO one can tell what LSP you used just by looking at your pictures.

Your camera/picture quality come into play. Your paint type, the quality of the prep work. Heck, how well your computers monitor/resolution is.There are several factors to consider. While I agree that many users here state "Get Fuzion for that deep wet look". Well, you can achieve that look with some great paint correction and just about any quality LSP out there wether its OTC or on AG.

If any one does "guess" the LSP, my money is that it was sheer luck. Thats why I didnt post my thread, its just too redundant. Also, looking at a paint's gloss in person is a whole nother ball park when comparing it to a photo online. You also took those photos inside a garage, take that baby outside in direct sunlight.
