Are you smarter than a detailer?

I read that before. Very interesting stuff. I agree that it is hard to get a feel for the exact look with pictures, especially in a garage. I just thought it would be a fun thread.

I know what you mean. I have tried many LSP, and getting to the point of dimishing marginal benefit. At first it was great moving from Meg's nxt and eagle one to dura gloss and then to pinnacle and then Wolfgang and blackfire. After using BFWD, I really don't think it gets any better for a LSP for me. And as long as the prep was done correctly its going to be hard to tell what LSP is on the paint.

Also great thread.

Its not about the looks just after application, its about how long that it lasts.

True, but I will add that it really all depends on what your trying to achieve.

Are you trying to achieve the maximum gloss your paint can achieve? Then durability might not be an issue for you, you can just re-apply. After all who doesnt enjoy waxing their car?

Or are you trying to achieve durability and maximum protection? Get out the Colly 845 gents.

While most of us want both great results & durability, there are many products that cater to both. Some lean more towards better looks, others better durability and inbetween. Find something that you like and that works well for you depending on what YOU are trying to achieve.

I don't like waxing my car! I want looks, durability, resistant to minor scratches and self cleaning. For me it has to be a paint coating. In my case GTechniq C1 is what I like after having tried lot of others. The addition of a layer of EXO (no need for two if you pay attention) gives me all I need.

Easy to keep clean and I don't have to constantly re-apply a product ever 2-3 months.

Now my wax collection sits on the shelf unused.

The only time I wax anything now is if a customer want a 1-step job in which case I use Meguiars D151.

 Work smarter not harder

This was my go to wax when I detailed your mom & dads car... srs

This is exactly what I was looking for! It's so interesting to see all the responses are all over the place. Just thought I'd get everyones brains cranked up for the new year. Tomorrow I'll try to get some outside pics. The high is supposed to be above zero. The high today was exactly zero...no outside pics. Isn't it interesting though how hard it is to tell what the car is covered with yet often people have VERY strong feelings about a certain product?

Is that Zero C or Zero F ?

Believe it or not, no one has guessed the correct "coating".
Have at it.

IDK but I'm intrigued by what looks like a Port-a-Potty across the street.

Re: Are you smarter than a detailer? - Updated 1/1

I read a lot on the forums about this coating is better than that coating and this wax/sealant is better than that wax/sealant. I thought I'd post a challenge. I "coated" my car with something and YOU have to guess what it is by the looks. I don't have any topper over it; just pure "coating". You guys are so smart, you tell me what it is. If the guesses are wildly off, I'll offer a hint later. Good Luck. No prizes will be awarded! Im the MAN

Bingo! You are correct my Pakistani friend! Nice work.
@Flatlander:

If you don't mind...
-How many cc's of Opti-Coat 2.0 did you use to "coat" the vehicle?
-Is this vehicle sporting one or two film-layers of OC 2.0?
-What applicator/application-process did you employ?
-What was the total elapsed time between your OC 2.0 application to the vehicle; and,
the photo-op session (that seemingly/purposely was designed for this thread's questionnaire)?
-Got any pics of the OC 2.0 syringe and its remaining pre-polymer resins, if there would be any?

Thanks in advance for any information you may supply in regards to the above requests.

:)
