Come to S. OC lots of people with money, high end cars and plenty of work for a good detailer. I'd welcome you to be my competition.

Pro detailing scene is alive and well. There are several AG members in the Hampton Roads area. There are also a lot of other 'pro' detailers that probably keep the AG pros in business :D.. We also have a large military presence here in Hampton Roads - lots of potential clients with nice rides.

Hurricanes/Tropical Storms aren't as big of a deal as people make them out to be. There have been a few come through here in the past few decades, but I've experienced only one in the past few years, and the effects here werent' as bad as when it hit up north - New Jersey, New York..

Aint that the truth! From Coto de Caza, to Mission Viejo, to San Clemente...many high end cars that need detailing.

Beautiful weather, lots of detailers, but most are hacks as someone stated above. There is a great market here.

Anyone want to hire me or give me their overbookings this year when I come for a few months? :props:

The overall struggle is that my wife really, really doesn't want to move. If I can figure out a way to do some work while we're in Florida, that might be the ticket, that way, only a short "off-season" here. I could potentially be there for about 12 weeks at a time.

My buddy said that Nashville is a great place to be, and up and coming. I think that's where B&B is (forum member), and he's doing quite well it appears.

Torrance, Nice!! I use to live in that South Bay Area for about 15 Year´s.

Use to live in Harbor-City / Lomita / Carson
Client´s in The Rolling hills Area, same as P.V
Great Area to live, Nice weather. Some times I miss living there

And I´m in a part of Mexico were a lot of gringo comunity lives
South Baja California, Near Scorpion Bay, 2hour driving to La Paz, and 4hrs to Cabo

Here I got nice weather, But I don´t have acces to the Detail Supply stores like in SOuth Bay!!!!
 
What about an area that has numerous car shows or auctions?

The Fresno/Clovis area in central CA is probably the most underrated place in CA.
-In between SF and LA. 3hr drive either way
-Mountains 45 min drive east (Yosemite, Sequoia ntl forrest)
-Beach 1 1/2 hr drive west( Pismo, Monterey, Cambria, Morro beach)
-Affluent north area(both old and new money)
-University town+ one CC and one small pvt college
-Lots of new construction homes to choose from. 1/2 cost of a apt in SF or LA.
-Clovis unified schools is one of the best public school districts in the nation
-NO: earthquakes,hurricanes,tornados,flooding,snow,
-1/2 million people in the middle of the Ag center of the world

Yes, but CA is the second highest taxed states in the Country. FL has no individal income tax.Cost of living is higher than central FL and housing has to be more costly as there is a glut of overbuiling in Fl. I would give you that because of the low taxes in FL it's school system is not so great. But I understand the CA has lots of problems with the cost of educaion.
I cannot comment of the quality of life,though.

CA has the same overproduction problem in regard to housing whcih helps keep the valley homes cheap. Forgot to mention that Vegas is a 50 min flight from our Airport. Taxes are high in CA. But there aren't any high-end detail shops in our area.
 
CA is a good market but you are also competing with "detailers" that would take $50 for a complete detail.

Actually he works in Anaheim (moved there in 2011) and lives in Yorba Linda. If it's not a golf course or tennis court, doesn't squeak when it walks (because it's so up tight) and isn't holding it's nose up above everyone else then it's NOT in his league. His name is Scott(y) but we've always called him Snott(y). :laughing:

Have no idea why he turned out like he did, because his parents are surely not wealthy, don't pretend to be wealthy, and don't WANT to be wealthy.
