I have a major problem my now one month old brand new car is being attacked by various Robins, even with a car cover over it they wont stop.

I was going to put a blackfire finish on it but now I am seriously wondering if this is bad idea. Is there something in te meguiars car wash that attracts them or is it the shine ?

How can I get rid of them other then a pellet gun ? They are scratching the hell out of my clear coat!

I was thinking shotgun! I had a Silverado and every year no matter what I did they would hit it.

i live in a suburban neighborhood, so that would get me arrested...

an other suggestions ?

do ultrasonic repellers or solar powered moving owls work ?

I tried a car cover but it doesnt fully cover the sides of the car...

I we had the same issue with our kids cars that are parked under a carport.

We hung a plastic owl in the center of the carport and it actually kept the birds away....

I thought my wife was crazy when she 1st suggested it!!!!

JMHO...Get the right-sized one, then.

Bob

I bought budgeindustries cover but i think it is not fitting because I have the dodge oem mud guards on the car so I will have to get the next size up for my 2012 charger... it is supposed to be a size 4 i think 16.9 - 19' I need a size 5 which 19' - 22.5'

being it's Easter I will have to wait until tomorrow to get a different one

here is the damage from the first day... even with the cover on they are trying to get up under the cover and attack it!

The neighbor said he saw 7 different birds going at the car this morning. I only saw one myself but it kept coming back.

Most of this washed off however they did leave scratches in the clear coat and a 6 - 8 inch scratch at the bottom of the drivers side door.

anyone know of a home remedy like certain spices that repel them. scents, etc. The only other things I have found is ultrasonic repellers at $150.00 but I don't know if they work.

Man, sometimes those robins are just nuts! I had one a number of years ago that would just repeatedly fly into one of the windows of my house. It would land on a branch in the bush next to the window, and then take off, but just fly against the window flapping and flapping. I'd chase it off but he would just come back. Figuring it was seeing a reflection of the sky in the window, I tried taping an X to the window, putting various scarecrows in the window, but it just kept doing it, and I'm talking about forcefully bonking into the window.

I think it was the plastic owl I got that finally made it leave...that window. Then it started on the other side of the house, but that didn't last long--I'm figuring it finally must have gotten brain damaged from all those window impacts and dropped dead somewhere.

Anyway bizarre behavior but not much different than trying to get under you cover; I don't know what the explanation is but I believe you because I've seen it.

I can tell you why this occurs. The birds are seeing their reflection and attacking what they think is another bird.

I tried the eye thing that FUNX725 posted and it did little to scare them away, tried owls with heads that move and inflatable ones. Nothing worked.

I got a custom cover and that at least has gotten them off the car but taking it on and off everyday is going to be tedious. I'm just worried that the cover will put scratches in the paint from constantly putting it on an taking it off. It is a covercraft custom cover.
