With detailing season coming up for a lot of us, don’t forget to lubricate the felt ring!!

Mike P has a few articles on this if you are unaware. Just do a quick search.

Also it’s a good time to check the backing plate out. I always suggest having a spare on hand as this IS a wear item. They do indeed lose adhesion strength over time.

it's coming up for me to. Just did one, and will be doing a few more soon enough.

Thanks for the reminder! (Although, I'm kind of in the habit of doing that before every detail I plan on using the 3401). Overkill? hehe.

I do need to get some spare backing plates, though. Before I can't.

In the meantime...I patiently await shipping of my CBEAST.

I already done it...

the next time anyone who does this...announce to your significant other or others that " I will be lubing the beast!!! Be back in a few!!! ". I wonder what they will think. LOL

Good plan!

Speaking if the Beast. Anyone seen a standard backing plate in stock? Ordered one from Autogeek, then it went on back order.

Would like to have a spare

I recently bought the Supa BEAST. Am I correct that there is no felt ring to lube on the Supa? Thanks to you all, I did buy the 6" plate and spares, thanks. Right now the stock 5" plate is not in stock at AG.

Correct there is no felt ring on the XCE polishers like there is on the 3401.

Ordered both sizes for myself. (I use two 3401s)

thanks for updating this thread, guys

I'm like dcj, i do mine about every 3rd job. I just hate the grey oil goo on the housing as its displaced during use! I keep an old shop towel around to wipe it off.
