I'm looking for a professional/ expert in paint correction for my 85 Oldsmobile.


My car has single stage paint with some medium/heavy swirls please PM me if interested in earning my buisness.

color of car is cream beige

I have actually used Scott before on this car last summer, he is a very skilled nice guy who gave a great detail!!!, Unfortnately he was unable to get the swirls out....So I am still shopping around trying to find somebody who can get them out.

Here is a pic of the car after Scott got done.

Let me ask you:

A) Is this the original paint?

B) Was it swirls or rids that Scott seemed to have a problem removing?

Thanks my friend im turning the car into a lowrider.....Sense that pics I've got pinstripping done and through on som 13" 100 spoke chrome knock offs.

The paint is OG and the car had 69k orig miles on it......I might need to brush up on my terms but what is a rid???

Scott probally felt your paint was to thin to go more aggresive

Random Isolated Deep Scratches

Without wetsanding these can proof to be very difficult to remove and being that your paint is 25+ years old, the risk may not be worth the reward

I've known Scott for at least 10 years and count him as a good friend and also a highly skilled professional detailer and if he didn't remove the swirls then like Mike posted above either it can't be done safely or it wasn't factored into the price.

Also I've seen older single stage paint jobs with a type of swirl that's more like cracks "throughout" the paint that simply cannot be removed.

If the problem is RIDS that is Random Isolated Deeper Scratches, then like posted, these could be too deep to remove safely.

Thanks for the replies guys as I recall our conversation I think you gentleman are correct. I do think it is indeed RIDS and he did mention he would not feel comfortable with going any more aggressive in fear of paint removal...........I hate swirly/RIDS!!! paint so I was asking what I could do and his response was "learn to love them" :surrender:

Looks like im stuck unless I re-paint the whole car I guess

Also no disrespect directed at Scott or his services I agree with everybody he is indeed top notch.

I forgot about that Mike...and that "Man vs. Machine" challenge. I think that probably changed the course of his detailing career. I of course only know him through the forums, but Scott just seems to be a down-to-earth, straight-shooting guy.
