has anybody heard of this from dealerships? It sounds like an upsell, but have not heard much about it. My parents just got a new vehicle and were wondering if this would be worth it or not. I told them to not do it, but they are worried because the paint was bad on their last one. By the way, I am about 1500 miles away, so I cannot detail their cars for them. Feed back please

I never heard of Auto Butler. You can drive down from Michigan to Texas detail you parrent's car and drive back in less then a week. Any good son would to that.;)

I heard of it, but cant remember where:confused:

Thanks for the input Gary, . Lets see, 1500 miles at $2.75 per gallon, at 16 mpg and a 26 gallon tank would equate to 4 fill ups there and 4 home. Thats 8 fill ups at 2.75 per gallon would be $572 total.

They would be impressed by my new skills though. I guess the auto butler is a every six month deal where they bring the car in, and they apply some sort of sealant and fabric protectant. here is the link, Auto Butler Customer for Life Program

*****AG mods, I am not trying to promote this business, just linking so people can give me insight after learning what all is included. Please delete if this is not allowed as I am trying to not have my folks get ripped-off.

I don't think any sealant lasts for 6 months. For $400 I'll put some sealant and fabic protectant on your car.

That price is for local detailing only unless it was my parrent's car I would go anywhere for free.

Gary are you hinting that I am a bad son for not go to Texas to do this for free for my parents? :p

Shamefully yes. (insert crying smiley)

I wish I was there to take care of this for them, but given I owe U of M about 100k, I am a little tight on cash if you know what I mean.

I use to have students loan too so I know what it's like. :( I'm sure going to U of M from out of state was even more expensive then the big $$$ I had to pay when I went.

It was brutal and I worked full time to help pay for it and still will be paying for 20 years at over 500 a month.

dealers have been selling paint sealants and fabric protectors for years, its driving around back and seeing what is used that is eye boggling.

Fabric Protector --- 2 cans of Scothgard per unit

Paint Protectant --- none, or a wax at best. Why ?? Because paint is designed to last the length of warranty with little to no care. So its a warrantied item anyways, and the clearcoat and UV protection in it already protect.

Send the parents a nice kit of Pinnacle and save 300.00 for a plane ticket for your next visit !!

Yeah, thats what I pretty much have decided. Thanks for all the feedback.

I went to MSU my 1st year of college. It was like one never ending party. I partied so much in High School that I felt I needed to do something serious so I transfer to U of M.

My Son is a good boy , Daughter well different story.
Besides he wants to become a CPA.

Sure enough, UM engineering. Just got my Masters in December. State is a great party town..... from what I heard that is... How old are your children?
