Many of us use obilTarate in the decontamination process followed by Iron Out. This usually addresses spot tar deposits that at times are hardly visible. How well would the product fair on full on tar contamination? This past week I got a call from a frantic client. The vehicle in question is an e92 m3 convertible that I detailed a few months back.

As of late there is a lot of road construction in and around Durban. He managed to go through an area of freshly laid tar and managed to get it splattered all over the passenger side door, wheel arches, fender etc. His natural reaction was to try and wash it off only to realise that it was there to stay. He called and explained the situation to me. I was excited and curious. Would the product be effective enough?.
After a quick wash I pulled the car into the garage for inspection. I snapped these pic’s throughout the process, please mind the quality-they were captured on my phone.

To say I was impressed was an understatement. The ease of use is definitely something to rave about; I sprayed the product on and watched it start to break-down/dissolve the tar. The wipe off was effortless even on the heavily soiled areas. Given the severity of the deposits I ran through the process twice just to make sure I didn’t miss any areas.

I then proceeded to wash the car again and applied a layer of Auto Finesse Tripple, another product that is excellent in terms of what it is capable of. The icing on the cake will be the Desire Wax that will be applied sometime this week.

Great to hear it has worked great for you too. I absolutely love this product. I washed my wife's car yesterday and her car had tar all over like your clients car. Sprayed it on and it just melted the tar right off. Another great product by AF.

What is the difference between this and a solvent?

Wow, what a great product! It really cleaned that up nicely, and I loved being able to see the contrast on white! You know, pretty much every AF product I pick up I fall in love with - great brand. Thanks for sharing...

Nice! I was at my local credit union one day and saw a white Bmw M3 with a whole bunch of tar kicked up. I was thinking I hope you're here to get money for your car to get detailed. haha!
