Well I know you all probably could careless what us crazy people do around here but we did have a neat trip today I thought I would share with you.
Colin our warehouse manager and myself went to the Palm Beach Airport to visit the FedEx hub where some of your packages are shipped from. In our business it is always nice to build on our relationship with our vendors that we do business with, so in turn we can provide you the best service.

So we got to visit the hub where all of the packages are sorted and get put on either trucks or the FedEx planes.

This plane leaves every night at 10pm with Express packages heading to Kentucky.

Here is the front nose part, I felt VERY small while taking this photo.

FedEx is a lot like Autogeek in that it is an employee driven company and the employees are treated like family by the CEO. A great example is all FedEx planes are named after employee's children. This plane is name Trace as you can see behind the pilot's window.

These are the seats for any FedEx Air employee that might need to hitch a ride! I did hear the drink and food service was horrible! And no way can you get Peanuts!

This is the belly of the plane, where all of the packages are put into "cans" and then loaded into here for flight.

Now for how FedEx Express packages are delivered!!!!

Now for the most amazing part of the trip, when Colin and I walked up the man that is in charge of the rig and the race car asked us what company we were from. Now generally when I tell a stranger Autogeek.net, they go oh really what is that... NOT THIS GUY! He smiled really big, opened the door of the rig and pulled out Pinnacle Souveran Spray Wax and a Miracle Towel. Colin and I looked at each other in amazement, we knew this man had good taste! He then proceeded to tell us he orders from us all the time. You just never know....

Needless to say we had an awesome time visiting FedEx and we are really happy to know even race cars can glow with Souveran!

Wow thats cool. Something I would not mind doing for a day =D

Very Cool! Meghan, you get to have all the fun. :xyxthumbs:

That is cool. Thanks for sharing Meghan.
How much Souveran Spray Wax does it take to do the rig?

Hmm.....so that is where all the missing shipments end up. :bat:

Field trips like this are awesome - thank you for sharing!

My favorite work-related field trip was two years ago when I got to tour Pittsburgh's North Shore Connector subway tunnel as it was being built. They had just completed the inbound tunnel and were in the process of turning the boring machine around to go back the opposite direction. I got to walk the entire distance of the line, walking through new stations as they were being built and through the tunnel bored under the Allegheny River. As with Meghan and her comment about the size of the jet, it's amazing how large those machines really are.

Anyway, here's hoping everyone gets to take such a cool field trip from work every now and then!

I thought you used UPS
We use FedEx, UPS, US Mail, horse and buggy, whatever is best for the customer.

Thats awesome Meghan! Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. Next time you see him let him know we are onto his Pinnacle pilfering. :) I never saw the inside of a fedex plane... Interesting. Also very cool about the plane names.

Horse and buggy deliveries in my neighborhood have been upgraded. The Amish are getting pretty progressive these days. Here's my neighbors... I like 'em a lot! :D

Wow those Amish are updating their transportation.

Is it weird that the first thing that came to mind when I saw the pics of that plane was the movie "Cast Away"?

I miss working a job that included field trips :(
