Hello Geeks!
About two weeks ago, I won an Autogeek give away, which was the Autogeek Executive Briefcase!
Before I start the review, I want to thank Autogeek and Nick for the opportunity they give us to win prizes from our favorite forum. It's a awesome forum to learn about your passion (cars), meet great people (AG has the best forum members), and also chances to win prizes? It's a no brainer that AGO is the best forum, which is why I've stuck around
I haven't given a immediate review until now was because I wanted to test out the bag for a week and see how it performs to give real-life feedback.
***Keep in mind, even though I won and I appreciate it, I am going to give an unbias review that is based on my observation and opinion, so if you want to hear praises and this is the best bag etc, this prob isn't for you and you should close this window. I am not going to praise this product just because I won and suck up, hopefully this won't jeopardize my future chances of winning any other contest :xyxthumbs:
First thing is, THIS THING IS HUGE! This case can easily fit a 17 inch gaming laptop (just to give you an idea) easily. I attached a picture with a 16oz of WGDGS 3.0 to show you the size comparison between this bag and a 16oz bottle as reference to give you an idea.
On the front end of the bag, is the AG LOGO with a flap that opens, where you can keep mouses or external hard drives (this is what I used it for) or even paperwork. This whole side is detachable, because this whole briefcase is really a 3-part bag, the front and back part is detachable, which is held together by zippers.
On one side, is a pouch zipper, looks like you can carry a external mouse in here which is what I used it for.
On the other side is a pouch with a see-through slot, which is for cards or business cards. I don't have any business cards but it is great for you mobile detailers!
On the bottom, is attached 5 plastic spikey base thingys. This is great if you don't want to dirty your bag and have the material sit on the floor, instead it sits on the spikes and protects your bag! Great idea. I usually always sit my bag on chairs/tables etc to not dirty it but now it can rest on the floor.
The first detachable folder (the front side) has a zipper to access inside the bag. The inside of this bag has a TON of little pockets on the front end, this is mainly for pencils, pens, highlighters, laser pointers, etc. On the opposite side (still inside the folder) is bigger pockets, for things like mini-staples etc.
On the second detachable folder (the back side) has even more variety of spaces that you can fit any little thing into (that isn't pens etc since thats what the front one is for)
I attached a picture of 3 "pieces" that goes in the middle where your laptop sits. This is where my inexperience comes in, I don't know what this is for. The laptop bag I have prior to this one doesn't have anything like this that deattaches like this. There is a big piece that I assume is to divide space but I have no idea what the other 2 are for.
The compartment for the laptop is very spacious, I kept several text books along with my 15" laptop and still had space to fit probably another laptop!
There is two rings on the side which looks like its for holding the bag over your shoulder, with a shoulder strap? I don't know because I didn't get a shoulder strap, maybe because it was a give away? But it doesn't matter, I am not complaining.
I don't feel the "padding" for this bag is very good. It just feels like cardboard stuck inside the material and that is the padding. My old bag has a gel-like material that is very good for absorbing shock, I don't feel this bag has much "shock-absorbing" capabilites. So if you are looking for cushion, I am afraid to say this does not have much.
The front detachable folder has a picture of ivan, so when it is kept together with the rest of the case, it looks very nice and clean. However, if you remove the front folder, AG put another picture of Ivan on the center folder (where the laptop sits and the other 2 attaches to) but if just left with the center folder alone, it looks tacky because the zipper and and handle that is sewn is sticking out.
That is my unbias honest opinion/review of the bag! Comments/criticism is welcomed as I don't get hurt/mad if it is something wrong with what I've done, as long as I learn from it and it makes future reviews better Thanks for reading, this is my first review
Out of a score of 10, I would give it a 7/10. I would have loved to give it a higher score if it had gel as the base to pad the laptop instead of cardboard. I wouldn't pay retail $75 for it...at best I'd pay $50. The good news is, it's on the VIP for this week so you can go out and grab a bag and see how you like it!
