Autogeek is AWESOME, but the peanuts

Yea I hate the peanuts but I would rather have that than damaged items

I believe there a bioderadgeable peanuts made from starch, i think AG should look in to those.

news paper shredded would be cheaper, better and less messy

I love when I get packages from AG with whatever peanuts they have as I reuse them. The starch peanuts are good for the enviroment but I would assume if a large business isn't using them cost may be a factor. The air pillows are nice. The machines to make them start at $2000. I ship several 300-500 packages a month and have thought about getting one of the machines. I had a nice source for free packing peanuts (the starch kind) but it's gone dry. I've never bought packing material as there is a lot of free stuff to be had.

Thats what they do with my packages, like I said guys a few dozen roses sent to the right people on valentines day will get you very far in life........:p
Flowers? did you send them to our old address!?;)
Sorry no one likes the peanuts, I will pass your concerns on to the higher powers! After I go find my roses!:p

they are used as they are the best thing to keep chemicals from moving around and to ensure an in tact product.

about the environment, the electricity you are all using right now to type this is burning a hole in the ozone layer and melting the ice caps contributing to world destruction.

if you are going to ##### publicly about foam peanuts.... please contact ag directly.

I take the box bend it a little in one corner, where i can pour the peanuts in a 13 gallon trash bag.

I wish companies would ship with unsalted popcorn then we could put it out for the little birds.

I think AG should just get rid of the peanuts and stuff every package with Cobra microfibers to cushion the contents:D

YES! And it won't be wasted! We use those :D

If you get enough peanuts..bring them to a place like staples that has UPS shipping..they take them...or any place that does package shipping....

when I have a full 13 gallon bag full I drop it off at Staples ....or Mailboxes ect..

I was thinking about calling them but I wanted to see if I wasn't the only one who didn't like them, hence thats what I said in my first post. Plus I figured then that AG would like to see what customers think to improve their company when they saw other people post in this forum. Figured thats probably one of the reasons why they created a forum. For the customers(or even non customers for that matter) could give feadback and give constructive comments about detialing and AG. And if your going to complain about the thread I created you could of seen from the title what the post was going to be about and just skipped over to the next one. ;) Sorry that you got bothered by my opinion.

a place i order from uses peanuts that completely dissolve in water!! i think it's called starch foam or eco foam.. probably more expensive, but waaaay better for the environment :)

excerpt from.. Melting Styrofoam Peanuts at Steve Spangler Science

"Currently about 200 million cubic feet per year of polystyrene 'loose fill' (packaging material) is used in the United States. Although some companies try and reuse the packing material, most of the polystyrene loose fill is disposed of in a landfill. As students of science, we need to carefully examine such products and ask these questions: How is the material made, and what happens to it after it is used? One of the properties of polystyrene loose fill is that it does not compress easily. While this is beneficial when trying to protect something from being crushed or broken, it poses a problem when trying to dispose of it in a landfill. As a result, environmentally conscious companies sought a solution to these problems. One such solution is called Eco-Foam loose fill. It provides the ease of use and cushioning of polystyrene, but gives us many other re-use or disposal options for the future. It readily decomposes in water and can be re-used for your own packages, or you can dispose of it by putting it in your compost pile, watering it into your lawn, or washing it down the sink.

Eco-Foam is almost entirely made from an annually renewable resource… corn! The remaining ingredient is a water-soluble organic polymer called "polyvinyl alcohol." This organic polymer is made from carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen… the building blocks of life. When polyvinyl alcohol is exposed to water, naturally occurring bacteria feed on this organic polymer. Under wet conditions, the bacteria will use the starch (which is also composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen) and polyvinyl alcohol as food to begin the cycle of life again. "

i wasnt meaning to aim it towards you, I was going more atall the environmental people. WHy not just recycle them, all shipping stores LOVE free peanuts, etc.. Just seemed like a cheep shot going crazy and almost hijacking a thread that has a valid point for the sake of the environment.

I dont mean to sound anti environment but in florida, these people are everywhere! Next time I flush the toilet I swear some dude is gonna pop out of the resovoir on my comode and say flush less.

I just reuse them when shipping out products, so I guess I recycle ;)

Ok, update, I have checked with Max and the peanuts we use have proven to be the safest way to ship chemicals. We are experimenting with paper and other packing means at this time. Just a matter of what gets the chemicals to you in the safest manner, but I will keep everyone one updated.

The peanuts didnt help save my polyshield when it came in the mail, the glass vial was completly smashed..:( ... but bc the box was fine thinking it was a production problem and not shipping....

I am glad AG listens to there customers...you dont see very many companys that a customers concerns goes str8 to the boss man...

You know what I'm gonna do?
I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadaliac Eldarado Convertable,
Hot Pink!
With whale skin hub caps,
An all leather cow interior,
And big brown baby seal eyes for headlights.
YEAH!
And I'm gonna drive around in that baby,
At 115 miles per hour,
Getting one mile per gallon,
Sucking down quarter pounder cheeseburgers from McDonalds in the old-fasioned non-biodegradable styrafoam containers.
I'm gonna wipe my mouth in the American flag,
And then I'm gonna toss the styrafoam containers right out the side,
And there ain't a gosh darn thing anybody can do about it,
You know why?
'Cause we got the bombs, that's why.

Denis Leary-I'm an a$$hole song thought it fit, no?

You guys and your peanuts...

AG should stuff every package with Cobra microfibers :awesome:
