Last week Bob McKee and his wife Darlene took a trip to California to attend the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

This was Bob's first time attending the show and he said it was a car guy's dream come true. He saw every kind of rare vehicle imaginable, and it turned out to be a record setting year for the show bringing in over $440 million dollars.

Pacific Coast Highway

It's a tradition every year to take the Pacific Coast Highway from Monterey to Big Sur, and to stop at Laguna Seca Raceway along the way. Then it's off to Carmel.

Carmel

While everyone stopped for lunch in Carmel, Bob and his wife Darlene managed to grab a couple photos of some of the cars.

Quail was the big event on Friday. This is the show that featured a fundraiser. Jackie Stewart was also there!

Concours d'LeMons, Concorso Italiano and RM Auctions

Saturday was another exciting day with the Concours d'LeMons, Concorso Italiano, and RM Auctions.

Wayne Carini from Chasing Classic Cars bought and sold a few cars at the event...

Maybe Bob will take the entire Autogeek crew next year? :)

Thanks for the awesome photos Bob (and Darlene!)

Nice write-up Nick! :xyxthumbs:

Just to note... we had a Studebaker just like this only with glossy black paint for one of our Thursday night projects here at Autogeek.

It's been probably 3 years since we detailed the Studebaker Starlight Coupe here at Autogeek and I see this car all the time and the owner Mike has done a great job of keeping the finish up.

I had the good fortune to have lunch with Darlene and Bob in our Hospitality Suite at Pebble Beach. Always a good time, especially in that setting!!

Holy cow, Jackie Stewart!! Who here is old enough to remember him on the Aurora commercials saying "it's a BIT like motorcar racing"...I can't find a YouTube of that anywhere.

Great pics from Max/Bob.

Over on MOL, Mike Stoops even has a shot of Sterling Moss!

If you look over Bob's shoulder that's none other than George Barris, probably the most famous car customizer of all time....

watermark.php

The most iconic car of all time that he built is the Batmobile.

Pretty cool!

:dblthumb2:

Here's some more cool cars that were on display....

This is a Cosworth Twin Cam Vega....

VW Microbus...

1963 Rambler American Convertible!

AMC Gremlin!

I'm not sure what this is but I think from the lack of a front grill for air intake and the air grills on the back fender is some version of a Corvair with an air cooled engine?

watermark.php

:)

More cars from the Concour d' Lemons.....

I think this is a 1968 AMC Ambassador SST Sedan....

watermark.php

This is th back of the Studebaker Starlight Coupe....

watermark.php

Now this is a rare car, it's a running Yugo!

watermark.php

watermark.php

watermark.php

Someone want to take a guess what the make and model of the car below is?

watermark.php

Because this car has a third headlight in the middle of the grill area, my guess is this is a Tucker of some form....

watermark.php

Rambler Station Wagon - While most people think these are a tick on the ugly side if you changed the oil and kept them tuned up they would run forever with their simple drivetrain design.

watermark.php

Ice chest that drives?

watermark.php

Wayne Carini interviewing the man with the yellow shorts, must be a Lemon thing?

watermark.php

Now were talking.... this is probably about a 1949 to 1951 Hudson and it looks like it has 4 carburetors sitting on top of a blower!

watermark.php

watermark.php

watermark.php

Now were talking big money cars.... I'll guess Dusenberg's?

watermark.php

watermark.php

watermark.php

They sure don't build them like they use to...

:)

Here's some more cars that were on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance....

This is a Cord, my guess is a 1937 or 1938. This is also the car you will see on all the Pinnacle labels.

watermark.php

watermark.php

Early 1950's Mercedes-Benz....

watermark.php

1939 Talbot Lago

watermark.php

1937 Bugatti

watermark.php

Vintage 1916 Austin Martin racer car...

watermark.php

Simple and complicated at the same time....

watermark.php

watermark.php

watermark.php

Looks to be a Ferrari of some sort... Where's Wayne when you need him? :dunno:

watermark.php

:)

Continued....

This super car just screams testosterone!

watermark.php

This is a Bentlely....

watermark.php

Looks like Darlene was able to get behind the wheel to get the driver's point of view....

watermark.php

Supercars!

watermark.php

watermark.php

The iconic Bugatti Veyron.... these look good in any color....

watermark.php

watermark.php

watermark.php

I'm going to guess this is a Hennessey Benom GT from the reverse fresh air intakes in the hood...

watermark.php

1964 Porsche...

watermark.php

Besides the really cool suicide doors on the Rolls-Royce, take a look at the lawn! It's so perfect it looks like it could astroturf!

watermark.php

Yeah I'll take two of these, one for me and one for the wifey....

watermark.php

Meanwhile back on the farm....

watermark.php

:dblthumb2:

Continued....

This is Ferrari Row.... lots of Ferrari's and lots of moola....

Here's a few shots just showing the grounds where the car show is held... with the ocean for a backdrop it's very beautiful. I've been to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance one time when I prepped a car for Chip Foose and two cars for Terry Cook and hung out at the Meguiar's hospitality booth while I was there. It's the only way to fly...
