Cool Contest!

So I'm sitting at my desk when Yancy comes down and says,

Check it out! Go to the forum homepage and check out the contest I just posted.

So I did... and here's what I said,

Cool contest and cool prize!

The Souveran Paste Wax is an awesome wax and for just trying you never know... you just might win!

I can't tell anyone how to be creative, that comes from inside, but here's a tip... we have a lot of reputable Vendors attending this year and many of them have their own forum. It only makes sense that they would want to reach as many people as possible while they're here at Detail Fest so check to see if the company listed below has their own dedicated discussion forum and if they do, start a thread on their forum to share Detail Fest with their forum members.

It's win/win promotion.

Do be mindful of forum rules on any forum you participate on but there shouldn't be any problems promoting Detail Fest to any forum owned by a company attending this year's event.

Meet the manufacturers and learn about their products firsthand. You'll see live demonstrations and you can ask questions.

Contest is under way, and have some great entries already! Remember we are looking for the the most creative and best way to promote Detail Fest. You can create videos, audio commercials, flyers, billboards, hire a plane to write it in the sky, you name it! Dream it, create it, post it then submit it to us.

Here is a submission by Susan A. from Palm City, FL.

Radio commercial:

Setting: hospital situation with doctors/nurses/heart monitor beep noises/sick-sounding car horns/backfires/squeaks and rattle sounds

  • Car 1: "Fred I'm sorry you have to see me like this…"
  • Car 2: "It's okay man. I was in bad shape last year til my people went to the Autogeek Detail Fest. Yeah I was fading fast but now vroom vroom I shine like I'm hot off the showroom floor."
  • Car 1: In a frail voice: "I hope I don't fade away before my family has a chance to get to the Autogeek Detail Fest in Stuart Fl."
  • Car 2: In a bright confident voice: "Don't worry it's March 24 & 25 in Stuart on Jack James Drive at Autogeek's Headquarters. Remember I was worse off than you and this year I get to be a model."
  • Car 1: "I'm feeling better already…knowing there's hope for a faded old car like me. Next year Fred, I'm gonna be a model too."
  • Car 2: "I'll see you at the Autogeek Detail Fest, March 24th and 25th at their headquarters on Jack James Drive in Stuart, Florida1"

or

Billboard:

Two exact cars talking to each other in a hospital situation. One on the left is UGLY while the one on the right is HOT. The one on the right is saying "Man…I looked like you until my people went to the AutoGeek Detail Fest last year" The car on the left is saying "I can only hope I get lucky this year…I'm fading fast"

I am thinking exposure without breaking the wallet,

Facebook Promo Insert (Detail Fest 2012) insert on your wall and post, share with all your contacts, DoDo Juice, Detailing World, Autopia, Detailed Image.com's all your friend tell to sas on to their friends, Local Car Shows.....Autozones Stores just a idea off the top of my head

I am loving Bills entry!!! His talent can not be bound!!

Mike! That was awesome! Thanks again

Bill's video came into my youtube feed and man oh man thats an AWESOME video! GREAT JOB BILL!!! I was pretending to narrate LOL!

Awesome video Bill! Keep up the great work.

Bill, That was awesome. Would have been cool to see more Lake Country exposure, but otherwise awesome. lol

Bill's vid puts my idea to shame...I was thinking you ought to have PorschePilot Ed tow some banners. If a banner didn't work out you could just tie Nick to the tail of the plane wearing an Autogeek shirt. :D

With the narrow target market (automotive detailers/enthusiasts that like to work with their hands), the better mass-media formats of advertising nowadays include YouTube links and Facebook/Twitter posts/reposts. I would run a referral contest where people could sign up for Detail Fest through a Facebook/YouTube Channel/Twitter/etc. post (one that could be easily copy-pasted from a sticky AGO thread for each format) and then it would give credit to the AGO screen name. When Detail Fest starts up, tally up who has the most and voila - winner. If you want to help prevent people from multiple IP cheating, you could get the link to go to a printable coupon/voucher for a discount/free gift if you actually attend Detail Fest, that gives the name of their referral (or a scannable code that you could use with a simple barcode reader/barcode reader smart phone app that would tally each vote). This sort of hobby/business is pretty reliant upon word of mouth, so AGO subscribers posting to their friends/colleagues/customers is the best way to reach the "target market" for auto enthusiasts.

For me it was a know brainier . I spread the word at the car shows and cruise ins

And a swirl girl in an Autogeek bikini Is also a great way to advertise ! Lol Jk Mike
