AutoGeek's Shampoos

I like this thread. It makes some really good points.

However, I have not found any of the drawbacks you mentioned using HW. (Or OCW).

I find these to clean very, very well and have never experienced a problem with them rinsing clean.

A good point was brought up in another thread about the difference in the water quality between certain areas of the country.

I am thinking this is most certainly the cause of the varying results each member posts about one soap or the other.
Agree, this is why I add uber or N914 to my wash water. They are both advertised as water softeners or whatever

Heck yeah, even a little ONR.

Knocks the suds to hell, but we are already debating that one. Lol

It def cuts down on the suds but I probably overdue it on the soap amount. I use a lot more then they recommend. Especially in my foam cannon

Same here. I just posted that in another thread somewhere. Nothing crazy, but if it calls for 2.5, I'll go 3. ;)

Ridiculous, isnt it? 200ml for $35 and at recommended dilution of 3oz/90ml per 5 gallons, that's a pretty pricey wash experience!

They have gotten the convertion a little wrong LOL. And it is pricey no doubt about it. But it's not a car soap that you use at every wash it's more like Carpros Hydrofoam. So every month or every other month is what's needed. The dilution is in ml and liter and you don't use as much water when washing with this soap. 50ml in 10L of water get you a dilution of 1:200. So if you would use around 10L it's 2.5 gallons of water and that you put in 1.6oz of the Glasscoat Schampo. $10 a wash is very expensive even for a coating soap.

Haha I'll go like 8 seriously. I'm trying to cut back but I like a lot of foam in my cannon. Lately I'll use the right amount in the bucket so at least the last wash has the right amount then rinse.

Thats true and the dilution on hydrofoam is ridiculous isn't it? I think thats why I havent used it yet even though I have a bottle

I wash my hair with shampoo; I wash my car with soap.

In the real world I have never once heard someone say they are going to shampoo their car. I think when a manufacture labels a car soap as a 'shampoo' they are some how hoping you equate that word with being higher quality, for what ever reason. I'll just stick with the soap, or mainly ONR.

Aren’t most soaps labeled car wash? I can’t think of any off the top of my head that are called “car soap”

This is the real world and people don't shampoo cars they wash them with soap/shampoo

Its semantics but it's not a strange thing like u claim. There are many car wash shampoos for sale using the term

Did they lower the price I could of sworn 100ml was 30 bucks
From PA website, looks like $24.95 for 100ml...just a bit more than enough for a 5 gallon wash bucket so about $25 a wash.

Infrequent use or not, that's a bit impractical. Even for me.

Still doesn't make it right. Shampoo sounds more like an action than a product. Like you would shampoo something using soap. Do you wash your clothes with shampoo? I dunno maybe I'm thinking too much into it. I just think the term shampoo should stay in the hair care business.

If I’m not mistaken (I could be), technically, soap is usually referencing something like a bar soap, which contains fatty acids mixed with an alkaline solution.

Trying to differentiate between what makes a soap soap and a shampoo shampoo seems to be splitting hairs. It seems like in modern times the two terms are used interchangeably, and imo have really lost any concrete definition. At least colloquially.

In my head all car wash products are shampoos, because calling them a soap just sounds ridiculous to me. But truthfully, I don’t think either word would be wrong.

For me too it's to much.

But for one car you don't use 5 gallons of car soap solution. Think Carpro Hydrofoam is recommended to use 5L car soap solution as in around 1.3 gallons. Or just mix up around the amount you use with a wash. I don't use any grit guard in the wash bucket when doing these kind of car soaps. So I can use up all in the bucket. Maybe try the Sonax Wash and Seal I got laying around with the next wash. The dilution in this is 1:400. But I see these as another way to top a LSP. And since I mostly use the toppers as LSP it's an easy way to extend those for a month. I don't use them every wash as it can be saturated with protection and streaks. And as with most different products it's if it suits you to use them or not. A wipe down with PA Cosmic Spritz would be more economical if you would have Cosmic v2 coating. Even if that's also a pricey product you get more applications from it.

Wash the roof with car schampo and the rest of the body with car soap :)

I think I’m becoming less a fan of Mckees SiO2. I don’t get the feeling it cleans and replenishes the SiO2 topper as well as PBL Shampoo. Maybe it’s the added SiO2 in Mckees that’s negatively impacting the beading, but after PBL I feel the glassy look is back and beading is top notch again. Mckees I feel lesser about these things. I wonder if BF Coating Wash is more like PBL or more like Mckees.

Next year perhaps I will try Reset.

What could Polish Angel possibly offer me for $30 a wash? I'm dumb enough to try anything once just for the experience but I can't imagine what the value proposition really is... I spent that much on a gallon of McKees 37 SiO2 wash. Is there something specific a really expensive-to-make soap/shampoo can do differently other than make me feel important? :)

Try it and find out?

Supposedly it’s adding decent protection... but I won’t ever know for sure.
