I've spent years trying to perfect a method to levitate a car to clean the whole tire. I've consulted magicians, yogis, conjurers, and fakirs. A Peruvian medicine man suggested ayahuasca - but that only lifted the car in my subconscious mind. Then, using techniques passed down from one enlightened Yogi, the clouds lifted, the sun entered - and an answer became clear:

Pull the car up on pieces of 2x4"s

"Tips & tricks"

If you put them the long way and park on em they will "hide" under the tire and you'll be able to truly get the whole tire.

Believe it or not, I do it this way because I like to clean as much if the tread as possible.

Yup, and put them more towards the inside of the tire so the outside "hangs over" the end of the 2x4.

Very nice idea, and it's very inexpensive to do. Makes getting the whole tire dressed a bit of an easier task!

I, too, prefer the lengthwise method; and (but with) the "lumber" being:
'Pressure treated' 2x8's-2x10's (nominal sizes)...4 ea., cut to a length ~4"-6" longer than the overall diameter of tire.

Besides use a measuring tape:
Another mathematical: "how to find that length":

2x [(Cross-section-width) x (0. Aspect ratio)] / 25.4 + Wheel diameter = Overall tire diameter

Example:
A vehicle having tires that are: P285/35ZR19...

2x (285 x 0.35) / 25.4 + 19 = 26.85"

Overall length of these "pieces of lumber" winds up being in the neighborhood of ~30"-32".
Relates to safer-maneuvering for me. Including the "hangs over"!
