Average hourly wages.

Brad, it sounds like a"dead end" job but heck at least you've got one. Perhaps you're working too hard for the money you get. When I always started a new job I would never show them my full potential in the beginning. The main thing is to produce steadily without rushing. If you do can do 4 HQ recons plus vacuum all cars and clean the lot in 35 hours it sounds to me like you are rushing. Slow down a bit.

These vehicles are complete shitboxes he buys them for about 1000-3000 and the 1000 dollar ones end up going for 4-5000 dollars when me and the mechanic are done and the other ones go for 7-10000 dollars. I bust my ass on every car. I have all skills in detailing.
I work 35 hours a week and I usually get about 4 full recons done I'm talking about like bringing them back to life. On the interiors i completely gut it out some vehicles I even take my air ratchets and rip the seats right out.
On top of the whole paint correction and interior scrubbing I do a lot of work the for customer jobs, wholesale auction cars and I also usually wash the whole lot and vacc the cars ( Its a 30 car lot). I don't only just get done 4 cars I do more like i just said. On top of all that I have turned the whole detail shop around. I completely cleaned the whole place out. It's very big. I changed distros to better products and saved him moneys well it's a whole new shop with me running it. I am very deserving of a raise I'm just trying to figure out how much I should ask if you don't know that's fine I'll figure it out was just looking for some more input to help me! Thanks man

get out of there, and find a import new car dealer they pay more and don't buy crap.

Brad, one of the things for you to consider is that your boss has expenses far beyond your $10/hr wage. It's easy to look at business owners and feel they are "making the big bucks", or are "taking advantage of people" however most fail to appreciate that he has a space to pay for, property tax, maintenance, workers compensation insurance, liability insurance, electricity, water, payroll, payroll taxes, equipment, product, trash, a dealers license, and trust me, the list goes on and on! Running a legitimate business can be VERY expensive! He is also the one finding the vehicles and recognizing the potential in them, he's taking the risk on every vehicle purchased, and he's sitting on the inventory (his money) waiting for it to make him money.

I'm sure the work you are doing warrants appreciation and is turning these basket cases around, but on cars at the price range you are talking about, I would be careful assuming he's making a killing. It probably won't hurt to go in and ask for a raise, but if you are at a competitive wage, don't be surprised if the answer is no. If you don't like it, go into business for yourself! It is the most stressful, and also the most liberating thing you could ever do. You will gain a whole new appreciation for what it is your boss does. Best of luck!
